Does this goof get booed on the road all the time?

Probably only by the teams that he gave blatant cheap shots to... So yeah, probably every team BOOOOOs the punk.

Drink.

Good to see Woodruff throwing so well.

It is frustrating that it took 8 weeks for him to throw 2 innings. The latest example of why I am skeptical about the timelines the Brewers give for returns from injuries.

Oblique injuries are extremely tough to get a read on, because they are a tough muscle to rehab. yeah, it's a bummer that it was on the longer edge of the timeline, but I wouldn't say the Brewers suffered too much not having Woody over the last 2-3 weeks. Where it hurts is that he won't by fully stretched out for the beginning of the postseason.

My broader point is not about Woodruff or oblique injuries, but Brewers injuries in general. My rule of thumb is to take the back end of the range they give and add a week and that ends up being accurate as often as not.

The worst example was when they said Greinke would miss two starts to start the 2011 season and he missed two months. They explained that they only meant that they would need a fifth starter only twice while Greinke was out, and even that was grossly understated.

The other was saying Nelson would miss much of the first half of the 2018 season.

It certainly seems like the Brewers medical staff is very conservative when it comes to players coming back from injury during the season. I don't know if that is necessarily a bad thing, though, I think it's important to remember that the injury timelines circulated to the media are often best-case scenarios.

Your last sentence is my main point.

Using Woodruff as the latest example, they said 6 weeks so people think he’s going to be back in 6 weeks at full strength ready to take his regular spot in the rotation. As often as not that’s when pitchers start throwing off a mound. If this were the middle of the season he would have had at least one rehab start in the minors before rejoining the Brewers.

I have no problem with being conservative with injury recoveries, but I wish they’d be more open about return times.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Woody definitely had the velo, but did he throw all fastballs except one or two? All he needed for two innings, but hope his breakaball will be sharp the rest of the year too.

I saw one nasty change and I know he got one of his K's on a 88 MPH slider right on the corner. But I'm listening more than watching.
