After all the people we talked about showing up, cain or arcia, gamel, etc

What if Shaw went on a hot streak for two weeks to lead us in the playoffs (As I hold head and duck for cover)

A pinch hitting hot streak ala Santana last year would be great and certainly a help. But i don't think he'll get any starts, barring injury, that would lead to a huge huge impact type hot streak.

That would be really cool. I just don't know if he's going to get consistent enough playing time to make a genuine difference, though. Perhaps if he puts together a few more productive pinch hit appearances, he may get a start again.

Great to see Woody back on the mound tonight. I will be working during the majority of the game, but will catch up on DVR. Will be very interesting to see if he works through some rust, or is able to pick up where he left off. He could be huge down the stretch.

[sarcasm]Imagine if Counsell knew what he was doing. We would be so good.[/sarcasm]

Hiura back and Spang at SS. Interesting, I like it and hope it works.

For the C, all we can do is trust them at this point. I mean Grandal is playing great right now and it's crunch time now. If he's saying he feels ok you have to go with him, he's a vet and knows himself. Plus, if we're going to really think about it it makes more sense to have the off day be Wed/Thurs due to the day/night. And I think Thurs is most logical due to LHP.

Oh what a lineup we have today.

Grisham

Grandal

Moose

Braun

Hiura

Thames

Cain

Woodruff

Spang

Mildly annoyed that Grandal is starting yet again, I hope CC knows what he's doing.

This lineup is good enough to win a championship. Especially adding Woodruff to our September pitching staff.

I really hope Hiura is good enough to play a full game, but it worries me that he is being rushed.

I think it is unwise to expect pre-injury Woodruff too.

We need to curb the excitement a bit until we see what these two have to offer.

Manny Pina (concussion) is available on Tuesday night against the Padres.

Pina suffered a concussion on September 5 and hasn't played since, but he got in a full workout on Monday and passed a round of tests on Tuesday. He'll resume serving as a backup to Yasmani Grandal.

Who is expecting that? I think if we get 3 solid innings and 45-50 pitches out of him tonight, mission accomplished. It's obviously going to take him time to get back to the point where he was really rolling in July. He just may not have enough time to get there, but that doesn't mean he can't be a very valuable member of the staff.

Really like this lineup, even without Yelich.

I also really hope that Braun can play some 1B next season, but that's another thread. And yes, I know Counsell knows this lineup and team like a bazillion times more than me.

Yeah, of course he can be a valuable piece, but I think we need to be realistic as to what he can contribute his first couple starts back.

I think he looks ok.

Man I love watching him pitch......

Totally...

If we can add another starter at the top of this rotation in the off season, I will feel a lot better about our chances in 2020...

We just HAVE to add some pitching this off season.

That would be fine by me. We can't have enough bats.
