2019 NFL miscellaneous news

LouisEly
It was a great pickup of the flag. Once the ball is in the air the only thing that can be called is pass interference. Being away from the play they obviously aren’t going to call a pass interference on him because he didn’t interfere with the pass.

Where do you draw the line though? If a cornerback sees the pass going the other way, just light up the receiver since he’s away from the play. I agree it didn’t interfere with the outcome of the play exactly, but to me it looked like he was being held well before the pass was thrown. Which Kelce would obviously not get the throw since the defender was literally all over him, leading to Mahomes throwing to a different guy. I just think that if cornerbacks want to start being much more aggressive after the ball is thrown, they definitely could if that is how the game is officiated. Maybe it was the proper call to a point, but I feel that Kelce was held well before the throw. I don’t see how there could be a no call in that entire sequence.

There was a lot of contact to start, but that was within 5 yards. Once he actually held him etc. they believed the ball was thrown. I’m not sure really...but the way they explained their decision was correct.

If the ball is already thrown what you do across the field is irrelevant. Probably good they don’t call that kind of stuff. If you are anywhere in the vicinity of the play then you are going to get flagged.

I have watched three games today...I will be counting yellow flags laying in bed tonight. It makes these game almost unbearable to watch when you aren’t a fan of either team. The endless ref conversations on them doesn’t help...especially when they pick them up half the time.

I'd much rather they take an extra minute or 2 minutes to get together to make the right call than to wait.

I think the Jags cap hit would be almost as much as Foles contract, so I don't think he's going anywhere.

Is that really going to matter if you are going to be rebuilding? It is going to take at least 2-3 years for them to rebuild. By the time they are ready to be competitive his cap hit won't even be a factor.

Well...yeah, I'd think paying as much for the guy to play for another team would matter. Especially since they've given no indication they were planning on "rebuilding." They're a young team that played NE to go to the SB just two years ago. They're obviously a flawed team, but they've also played a tough schedule. Loss to KC to start the year, they lost to the Texans when they went for 2 with 30 seconds left. They just lost to the Saints. They're the exact type of team that can win 10 games or lose 10 in a given season.

I think they eventually end up dumping Coughlin and his old school nonsense and try to keep Ramsey. But I don't see them rebuilding at long as they're in a winnable division.

They really screwed up in not paying Ramsey this past off-season. He's an elite player, the type you can build your D around. But they can still control him for the next 3-4 years without overpaying him.

But I'm thinking they're going to at least want to see what Foles can do before they pay him and trade him. But again, as long as Coughlin is there, who knows what they're going to do.

Zach Brown cut by Eagles after opening yapper on how much Cousins sucks. Worth a look?

HELL-YES.

I was confused why they didn't bring him in when he was a FA before the season. It's hard to imagine the Eagles cut him for running his mouth. I mean, he's a pretty damn good player and he was cheap. If that's all it takes?

I guess it was just a way to shake things up in Philly.

He also hasn't graded all that well in Philly to start the season, but he was one of the best LB'ers in the NFL just last year. He signed for I think 2.5 million...so it shouldn't cost much to bring him in. I guess if the Packers have any concerns after tonight, he'd be one of the first guys getting a call, but at this point, there will probably be more teams interested in him due to injuries.

But yeah, just a really good all-around player and we could bring him in and then even bring him back next year if we decide to move on from Martinez and draft a younger MLB'er.

Probably won't happen, but all year I've been hoping Gute would be aggressive at addressing roster upgrades in season with a vet here or there. If Burks doesn't look good, this could be the guy.

I'd say yes. Hes a very good talent. And we're weak as all get out at inside linebacker. If Martinez were to go down, how happy would you be having Brown in the wings?!

Even if Blake stays healthy, you've seen what happened vs the Eagles when we stayed in the nickel because Goodson is so mediocre. But we were able to shut down Dallas staying in the base. a 34 should have two good MLB'ers at least. And Brown may be better in coverage than Blake.

I still have no clue what Burks actually is. And I really don't have a problem with him saying something before the Vikings game. It's basically what Tramon said after the game.

Then when Raven Greene gets back, we're even more versatile.

Can't believe people are still clamoring for Zach Brown. There's a reason the next team he plays for will be his 5th overall and 4th in 3 years. Philadelphia is bleeding on defense and yet they cut bait after just 6 games. He's 30 years old and his play no longer warrants the hassle with everything else that comes with having this guy in the locker room. This isn't fantasy football.

And what is "everything else that comes with having this guy?" What other problems has he had? As far as I can tell, he basically just said what everyone else had said about Cousins and it happened to be when Cousins got hot.

As for this perceived level of play and the "fantasy football," insult, well, that's just ridiculous and baseless.

I don't know, you kinda drop it and make a snide comment and then never really back it up. I don't know who's talking about fantasy football here other than you. I'm talking about signing a cheap LB'er who was one of the best in the league last year to help strengthen our worst position.

I think the Jaguars are in full on rebuild mode with the Ramsey trade.

Rams will have five straight years without a 1st round pick (2017 - 2021).

Not quite trading a probable high #1 for Minkah level stupid, but getting there. Rams legit trying to buy a Super Bowl by bringing in established high-priced talent. That team is eventually gonna hit salary cap hell.

If you want to play "armchair GM" you should probably take the time to familiarize yourself with the human beings you're wheeling and dealing for in "hypothetical-land". Brown has a well-known history. A 5 second google search would be of great assistance to you. And taking another 20-30 seconds would tell you how poor his play has been this year. There's literally no upside to this guy.
