2019 NFL miscellaneous news

LouisEly
The Raiders have released Trevor Davis.

He was claimed by the Dolphins. I wonder if the Packers also put in a claim? They still get to keep that pick, right? I didn’t think it had any conditions, but I don’t see it on Wikipedia’s 2020 Draft page (the Ty Montgomery and Reggie Gilbert picks are both there).

I think Brady is waiting for Jim Harbaugh to be fired at U-MICH so he can step in as coach. :)

Here in Viking-land, I'm getting the "Packers might win the division, but the Vikings have better odds to make it farther in the playoffs" mantra again. Tis the season.

I'm hearing that too - but there's also a chance they miss the playoffs altogether with a pretty decent record depending on what the Rams do down the stretch.

If I'm Mike McCarthy that's the job I want. You have a QB and an owner who will go after any player you want.

The other side of the coin, is that any small losing streak, and you're already on the hot seat.

I'm not so sure about that. Garrett has gotten an extremely long leash, much more so than I would have expected from Jerry Jones. For all his faults, Jerry hasn't shown impatience with his head coaches.

Highly Publicized Scutiny I'd probably a better phrase than hotseat.

Watching the Patriots look average is fun.

Pats fans booing NE as they leave the field at halftime.

Refs rob the Patriots of a scoop and score calling the offensive runner down (he wasn’t) and then incorrectly called them out on the three yard line later on in the drive...he wasn’t out and actually got the TD. Unfortunately the Patriots were already out of challenges because of the absolutely terrible refs so they couldn’t challenge. Drives dies and they have to kick a FG. They then incorrectly called a TD catch soon after, just kidding it wasn’t, and then the Patriots were scrambling back onto the field and had to take a timeout.

What a joke. Just like that the Patriots have no timeouts cause the refs are dumb and lost 4 points.

[sarcasm]Yeah I feel real sorry for them. They've been through so much hardship and just can never catch a break.[/sarcasm]

Week after week Im told that there is a conspiracy to win them games and make sure the Packers lose. It turns out this might just be bad officiating??

That call at the 3 yard line was more unfortunate/unlucky than terrible reffing in my opinion. The line judge at the endzone had to back up as there are a bunch of players, so he doesn’t have a good angle and the side judge was blocked from seeing the foot. They definitely got it wrong, but I can see why and I thought he coulda been out at first glance when watching the play live.

What did the Patriots use their first challenge on? I wasn’t watching the whole game so I don’t know if it was something legit or not.

That NE used their 2nd to last timeout (not last time our, they had one left to use when KC was kneeling out the clock) is 100% on them. They should have still had plenty of time to still get a play run with the play clock resetting (unless that didn’t happen, but I don’t recall the Patriot players looking mad and signaling for it to be reset).

Don’t get me wrong, I’m shedding no tears for bad calls going against the Patriots and may or may not be viewing all of this thru completely biased eyes.

They used the first timeout and challenge on a horrid spot on the Chiefs drive where the fumble happened. They gave the Chiefs a first down and marked them on the 40 yard line (39 was the first down). The Chiefs player looked like he may have gotten the first so they thought it was close enough to challenge. Of course it didn’t get overturned and by some odd rule or more terrible reffing in the game they didn’t move the ball at all even though their spotting was horrendous regardless of if he got the first down or not.

Again, maybe by rule all you get to challenge is if it is a first down or not. If it is you just get whatever the spot was even if it sucked. It just added to the pile of other terrible calls in the game. Felt like every other play they missed something or called something really strange. Maybe the worst officiating all year I have seen.

They didn’t seem sure whether he got in or stepped out. In that case they really should just call it a touchdown and let the quick replay figure it out for sure. Instead they open up the door for a game altering poor call.

I'm curious to see how this Patriots filming thing ends up. Seems awfully fishy.

I don’t think anything will come out of it. Just a hunch.

The FOX pregrame show just did a segment on the Patriots sideline scandal. I changed my mind. They were clearly in the wrong and will be punished. It will be very interesting to see if this somehow all rolls up to Bill Belichick.

Remember when the Steelers were stupid for giving up a top 10 pick for Fitzpatrick. They are 8-5 now. Man the AFC is bad.
Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."
