Why in God's name do you have a billion different options in the pen if you're not even going to have one warming up when Junior is in his second inning and can't find the strike zone? It is a tie game in a pennant race in September, is it not?

This is what drives me crazy about CC. :tongue

They’re in the middle of a stretch where they don’t have an off day for another week. Even with expanded rosters, the pen is starting to get gassed, and every pitch counts, even warming up in the bullpen. I guarantee you this plan is mapped out in conjunction with all the pitching coaches, players, and analytics staff. It’s highly doubtful CC is doing this on a whim or gut feeling.

I'll bet there isn't one of those in the clubhouse either

Well that was over 2 hours ago. I don't know where the closest hospital from Marlins park is, and I don't know how backed up they are (and a lot of modern parks do have X-Ray machines, FWIW) but 2 hours to get xrays and results isn't that outrageous.

Closest hospital is Jackson Memorial. 10 minutes away. Not the best hospital, but they can do x-rays just fine.

Neither Taylor nor Devin William's has even thrown anytime recently.

BA keeps being very cagey about the injury. Just said “if you’re just joining us, there is cause for concern...to hear the news of Yelich’s injury—the Brewers have not offered any.” What does that mean? Just an awkward improvisation? Does he have an indication of the injury and is not supposed to say anything without the official announcement? I’m probably just reading too much into it, but there have been moments where, in the dugout, Braun looks like his dog died.

Seriously, how many players in MLB history have suffered a broken kneecap on a foul ball? I can't think of one.

And walk under on their own power. Let's not try to read too much into the timing of the announcement.

When I was a wee lad of 14 I broke my kneecap into 5 pieces and walked on it.
