2019-09-09: Brewers (Lyles) at Marlins (Dugger) [Brewers win, 8-3]

Eye Black

My biggest beef with CC is he is too slow to yank a guy who doesn't have it cuz he doesn't have anyone else up just in case.

And if he yanked pitches right away, people would complain he didn't give guys opportunities to work out of it. Or that we are over taxing our pen. Or probably writing that he needs a bench coach to do something! Lol, hopefully, you see the point.

Nope we don't.

Probably should speak for yourself here. I know YOU don't see the point so I will explain it for you so you don't go to bed wondering tonight. Fans will complain about anything and everything. Even though CC has proven himself to be very good at handling a pen, especially in September, we will question him. It is okay to poke fun at us fans that do it as we are not in his shoes for a very good reason... we are not qualified to do his job.

I mean a perfect example is we get a 5-run lead and the first thing out of your mouth is a dig at CC for using Nelson. Lol, I mean it is just too comical sometimes.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Grisham still overmatched?

Before tonight, yeah.

I don’t think you really believe that. But I could be wrong.

He puts up good at bats, and all the potential is there. I truly do think he's going to be a good player eventually. But for the most part, coming into tonight, he hasn't been very good. The numbers don't lie.

Early in the season.....leave him in.

Trying to run down the Cubs for a playoff spot....yank his butt when it's clear he doesnt have it.

I'm a big Grisham fan, and I really think he's going to eventually be a good player for this team. But his .222 average, .294 OBP and 32% K rate entering tonight says otherwise.

Well if tonight’s the night he’s finally not overmatched, then what can we make of his multi-hit games and HR’s during his “overmatched” period?

It’s pretty obvious he needs to play everyday, and he hasn’t been, so of course he’s not going to light it up. But overmatched is not a word I’d use to describe his at bats, unless I were just dead set on trolling brew crew 92, which is fair.

He hasn’t been good. But overmatched no. He’s a rookie with a little over 100 AB’s. I think prior to tonight he was in a slump. But looks like he’s busted out of it tonight.

How can it be a slump if there is no baseline? He's had some solid games, but hasn't been great since he came up. Perhaps overmatched is harsh. He hasn't been an embarrassment, but he hasn't been good either. His numbers indicate that he's been a bit below mediocre. But he is young and the sample is small. And like I said, I believe he's going to be a good player for this team eventually. I think what we are seeing tonight is possibly/hopefully a taste of what's to come.
