Game 1: Packers @ Bears - Thursday, Sept 5th

Bears fans are VERY confident but you can tell there's an air of nervousness knowing Rodgers has destroyed their hopes and dreams before. I think the Packers could easily win this game but I also don't think that's likely. Bears are going to come out all fired up - home opener, 100th anniversary of the franchise, right in the middle of their championship window, prime time game, etc.

Having said that, I predict GB 67, Bears 3 (Bears kicker hits a 54 yarder on their opening drive giving them all kinds of hope only to be dashed by Rodgers throwing for 7 touchdowns.)

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I think it's actually comical how confident Bears fans are. Reading their comments, they're talking about how we have no experience on offense a whole new defense. I'm tring to think who's going to play on offense tonight that doesn't have experience? Jenkins..and if so, I think that's an upgrade, and Billy Turner I guess?

Defensively, yeah, it is a "new" defense in terms of personnel, but that's a good thing...that goes firmly in the "plus" column for us.

I just don't see how either side could really be confident. We have no idea what this offense looks like yet. My guess is that the Packers struggle on offense for a while this year, but their defense plays well. As far as our defense vs their offense, they think they've got this All Pro QB in Trubisky. He's talented and he might be the answer, but it's hardly a given at this point.

I'm guessing it'll be ~21-17...either way.

Alex Light is inactive (mild surprise?).

I know Billy Turner is effectively the third tackle since he can move over from RG, but what happens after that? It probably doesn’t matter because if they go through two tackles tonight, a lot of other things are going wrong.

Edit: Only 7 OL active (Jenkins, Patrick) - a bit risky?

I haven't looked at the list, but I guess Taylor played tackle last year, so if you have two tackles go down, it's Turner and Taylor at tackle and Jenkins/Linsley/Patrick inside? That'd change the offense quite a bit. Lewis would have to be out there every play helping out vs Mack.

Seems a bit questionable.

And we all thought MM lacked creativity. lol. I'm not going to make any drastic claims after 2 series, but I completely understood why some people were timid at the grass being automatically better on the other side of the fence.

I’m shocked that this offense doesn’t look good. Shocked I tell ya. Who woulda thunk it that a brand new offense that hasn’t taken a live rep would struggle against a good defense?!? Lol what a joke... New head coach not off to a good start with that simple decision IMO
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
