Zeke Extension

Yea I was very surprised when I saw the numbers. Someone told me 50 is guaranteed too. So, Zeke did very well for himself imo. Kinda surprised they caved that much for an RB. I'd guess he's cut after 3-4 years and all he gets is that 50 mil, but still for an RB he did very well.

I don't think Melvin is getting anything like that and is probably in for a rude awakening but we'll see

Apparently it's an extension, so his contract currently is 8 years, $103 million with $50 million guaranteed. Alot of this depends on structure...how easy is it for Dallas to get out of the last couple years of the contract? You'd think he'll be a stud for at least the next 3-4 years barring a significant injury...possibly as many as 6 years.

I can’t wait until they pay Dak $40 million/ year (heck, give him $50!).

They also just paid La’el Collins big money. I still hate that he was essentially a free first round pick due to the way he fell out of the draft. The NFL should have intervened and put him in the supplemental draft.

Eh, he's only been 24 for a little over a month. Gotta think the guaranteed money will have been paid out/earned well before he turns 30, assuming he doesn't Eddie Lacy himself out of the league.

Zeke reportedly signs a 6 year $90 million dollar extension.

I know he's good, but how many running backs have lasted as long as this extension will take him? He somewhat has to be a product of that offensive line.

He's not just a product of that offensive line. Remember, Tyron Smith was injured last year with the back so he wasn't at 100 pct and Frederick didn't play. Collins missed the year before. They have a good line, but Zekes a great back.

And the option was to not pay him and since they built their team around him, watch the whole thing kinda fall apart, Dak is much worse when he doesn't play, or pay him and continue trying to win now.

Dallas also structures almost all of their big contracts like this. Long term, big guaranteed money. It's their MO. The Packers tend to go 4 years, Dallas will go 5-7 years to minimize the cap hits.

If he played long enough to be worth it...that's a always a risk with any big-time contract, but as far as RB's go, this deal runs through the 2016 season. He'll be finishing his age 31 season. That seems like a pretty fair bet. Maybe they cut him with a year or two left on the deal, but the Cap might have gone up 70-80 million by that point.

Next up will be Barkley....a more talented player. Gotta imagine he'll be beating that mark. At least in AAV.
