So people want Grisham to start but are having an issue with him here? He doesn't have bad splits versus lefties and has pop in his bat. WAY too much is being made of lefty-lefty. This board is infected in the mind with this crap.

Just an easy way to second-guess CC

Who was second guessing? People were saying well before Grisham grounded out that it sucked not to have RH options.

Just because he doesn’t have drastic splits doesn’t mean he’s the best option to hit against a lefty. I would guess Perez has better numbers vs LHP.

Maybe he is but Grisham bit lefties in the minors and if he never sees them in the pros, he will actually become a platoon player.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I’m on board with trading Hiura to the AL and finding a 2B. He’s terrible.

Hiura is providing plenty of examples lately on why he was sent down earlier this year. I think he got up, the MLB coaching staff saw that defense first hand, and said "You go down and work on that." He is a very poor defender. Which was how he was advertised.

[sarcasm]No, no. This doesn’t work because they sent him down and then we became a bad baseball team.[/sarcasm]

The people calling for Perez to take that AB were obviously second guessing.

True, I actually don’t have a problem with him starting vs a lefty. Just seemed like for one AB with RISP that you’d go with the right handed PH.

I would guess having the more versatile Perez on the bench for later gives CC more options later in the game probably played into the decision as well.

Just overall don’t expect runners on and the first PHer of the game has to go lefty/lefty. Lack of options probably the best summary...

What NL team, other than maybe the Dodgers, are just loaded with both LH and RH options to be able to use in the 5th inning of a ball game?

I mean I probably would have went with Perez but I really am not criticizing CC either way. The point was the roster construction gives them no good options, not that he used the wrong option.

I agree with you there. But I imagine that most teams are going to stack their lineups with righties against Ray, so I would think a lot of them would be in a similar situation.

This is true. That said isn't that spot why you brought Perez back? If not bring Shaw back now that you have Spangs to play short.

I’d be willing to give up on Hiura in the field if he played there his entire career. With the time that he DH’d because of the arm issue, he’s probably got the defensive reps of the average A/AA player. He’s never winning a gold glove, but he should be far from a finished product in the field. He should be able to work to get to a tolerable level in the next couple years.

So should Freitas get called up before or after solves the world hunger problem

Too late, he’s hurt.

Sorry. I don’t accept that. Anyone who is scientifically created cyborg sent from the future to annihilate any and all round cushioned cork covered by white cowhide and red stiches is not hurt

What about 1B for Hiura?

Way too small.of a target.....no way.

He should be able to improve the throwing and decision makng with more reps.

He's bad now no doubt but should be able to get to average or close enough to it......his hands seem to be ok.
