Link Report for Friday 8/23 - TGIF!

Mass Haas
Peralta’s line:

2 ip 0 h 0 bb 5 Ks

Great to see the command, this is big.

Was there command? He’s normally wild in the zone. He threw 38 pitches, only 24 strikes. And he allowed 2 hits before striking out the side. You have his line wrong.

Ugh, missed the 2 hits he gave up, silly me. Not as impressive as I thought.

Surprised no mention of Kelly after yet another dominant showing over 2.2 innings yesterday. I am fine with him finishing the year in Arizona. Whatever they have been working on him with has been working! There was a lot of talk about being raw and having some control issues. Zero sign of that thus far. Plus no need to send him to Colorado Springs....zero benefit of sending any pitcher to the Vibe. Poor kids have to learn a lot about failure very quickly in their career.

Kelly has really been absurd through his first 9 outings and 28+ IP's at only 19

9 GS 1.26 ERA 28.2 IP 21 H 4 ER 5 BB 41K .208 OBA 0.91 WHIP

For more advanced metrics

13 K/9 1.5 BB/9 giving him a 38 K% to 4.5 BB% for 1.94 FIP

Ethan Small (22 years old) has only pitched 6 games for 16.2 IP but he to has been outstanding.

0.54 ERA 16.2 IP 8H 1 ER 3 BB 28K .140 OBA 0.66 WHIP

15 K/9 2 BB/9 to give him a 48% K% to 5.5 BB% 0.80 FIP

Throw in Nick Bennett (21 years old) as well in 9 outings (4 starts) and 23 IPs

1.54 ERA 23.1 IP 18 H 4ER 8 BB 31K .205 OBA 1.11 WHIP

12 K/9 2.5 BB/9 to give him 31k% to 8bb% and a 2.75 FIP

could have 3 real nice pitchers to add to our mix
