2019-08-23: Diamondbacks (Kelly) at Brewers (Lyles) [Brewers win, 6-1 -- Jordan Lyles holds the Dbacks hitless over 6 innings]

Eye Black

There was once a Facebook group called Real Men Kick to Devin Hester - intended to celebrate those punters and kickoff specialist who didn't wimp out and kicked to the NFL's greatest return specialist of all time.

Maybe we need to start a hashtag: #RealMenPitchtoKestonHiura

Lyles with a no-no through five...

I'd think of keeping him around if I were Stearns.

He's always had a live arm. It's always been about finding and maintaining consistency with him. He's been a pleasant surprise since coming over.

He should get a chance to compete for a rotation spot - but I could see him as a right-handed version of 2018 Hader if the rotation shakes out a little differently...

Braun needs to play every day from here on out if brewers want a shot. The lineup with him out is short. He deserves credit for what he's been able to do.

I've been really impressed that he's stayed healthy -- but I wouldn't push it. We have a good thing with him this year at the plate and maybe there's a good reason for that. 5 starts a week or so is ideal.

I know edgy viewpoints is kind of your thing, but comparing Lyles to Hader?

I know Lyles is coming up, but that's a stupid send by Sedar with 1 out. Not even close. If it's 2 out and Lyles coming up, sure, take a shot. Not 1.

Doubly so since Lyles got a hit...

Still, Crew up 6-0, Lyles with a no-no through five...

If this is the biggest complaint, we are having a good day.

And that's why you never send a runner to a sure out at the plate.

It’d be interesting to know the percentage that the RF makes a perfect throw to home versus Lyles percentage of getting him in from 3rd with 1 out.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
