2019-08-20: Brewers (González) at Cardinals (Wacha) [Brewers lose, 9-4]

Why is your best reliever in the game now?? I have defended Counsell all year. He doesn't have a lot to work with but I'm changing my mind. He may need to go. He just doesn't have it. He gets another year but dude needs to play the show or something. Get it together on the pitching decisions.

I’ve watched the majority of the games this season, but it’s becoming increasingly tougher to justify. Brewers baseball just isn’t much fun to watch right now, unfortunately.

They are putting a lot of bad baseball on tape, that's for sure. They've shown flashes of the magic they had last year, but those flashes have been fleeting and far too few and far between. It's really too bad because, on paper, this is a very good team. It's really hard to peg the problems to one or two big issues, too. There are a bunch of small ones that are just piling up.

Brewers trudging to their sixth straight loss against the Cubs and Cardinals and falling into a deep hole in both the division and wild card races. They’ve scored a grand total of 11 runs in those 6 games, including 4 in a hopeless 11-4 loss.

That negative run differential turns out to be a fair reflection of what this team is about.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Brewers bullpen has stunk all year........Guerra should have been out of that inning with a tie game.

He did about as good a job as could be expected entering the game with bases loaded an nobody out.

That ball has to be caught. End of story.

Brewers are just a 500 team........it's been pretty obvious for a long time that they just aren't good.

Somewhere Derek Johnson is smiling when he sees the box scores.

I don't think I've ever been more exhausted of a hot take ever in 35 years.

If it's been a hot take for more than a couple months I'm not sure it's a hot take anymore. More of a normal observation at this point.

Ball should have been caught, but the Brewers were likely going down anyway. There is no way this bullpen is going to cover 4 innings against a good hitting team.

Looking at the upcoming schedule I will be very surprised if the Brewers are above .500 much longer.

Look out for the reds. Only team in the division with 3 #1’s, a plus run differential, and a hot streak awaiting.

Not this year. The Cubs and Cardinals have hot streaks coming too in the form of home games and games against the Brewers.

They have a good chance to pass the Brewers but very little chance of getting into the playoffs. For all of Aquino’s heroics they’ve still lost 7 of their last 11.

It's still hard to believe our deadline moves were neither to buy nor sell, but rather go get 4 junk pitchers to add on to the many junk pitchers already on the roster.

I could understand it if DJ was still here, who just seemed to have a knack for polishing up a turd and making it shiny, but Hook has no such magic to work.
