Anyone who thinks Chase Anderson is the answer is asking the wrong question.

The Brewers at best will have the money to sign one free agent starting pitcher. You need to have five of them.

Depends on who is back and what happens on the trade market but it's going to be tough when you have no prospects. Anderson 8.5 million dollars would go a ways towards bringing in other options.

Chacin is off the books after this year, another $8 million.

 

$16.5 million could get a decent option.

 

That said... Gio's pitched well, and could come back in the range of $5-6 million. Lyles has done quite well, and comes backk in the $4 million range.
