We figure the minor league diehards found most of their info via the initial post links this week, we appreciate you and thanks to those who posted some key items and statistical notes each day.

Clearly "real life" impacted myself and Toby ("And That") this week, but we'll muster on. That was a rare five-day stretch in Link Report history.

Quite a lot of back-fill took place today, going back to Sunday's Link Report right through Thursday. Included are several video and audio links for you to catch up on, so please revisit the tail ends of those threads.

The plan is to back-fill on Rocky Mountain and the Dominican boxes Friday evening, and then be back to normal Saturday AM as we work our way through the final two-plus weeks of the regular season, and then hopefully postseason games for Biloxi (guaranteed for them), and hopefully others.

Thanks for hanging in there with us.

-- Jim

From Thursday's Link Report, Maryvale portion:

LHP Franklin Hernandez (37th round, 2018) made his season debut with two scoreless innings, good for him. Don't believe we know what held him back in 2019.

Just remembered, Hernandez is back from a PED suspension, so the transaction is activation from the Restricted List:

2 scoreless no hit innings for Jimmy tonight with. 4 strikeouts

He has had four good outings in a row out of the pen. 12k’s over his last 5 2/3 innings. Maybe he has turned a corner?

I’d say so.

They can use him with the big club any day now.

MAYBE. We'll have to see. The way his FB moved was so much less effective coming back than it was before the injury. And the fact that he needs multiple days between appearances...I'm not real confident he's going to provide much if any help the rest of this year.

I think the best chance that Nelson has to ever help the Brewers again is if they're able to work out a deal next year. I don't know if he signs a Minor League deal or what. But after we DFA him, I'd like to see him be given one more chance.

Just really awful luck. The Brewers had a budding young ace and this year they'd have had him atop their rotation, Woodruff and that could have been worth a 5-6 game swing.

Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes

Box: Lynchburg 6, Carolina 5

Errors Prove Costly in 6-5 Series Opening Loss in Lynchburg

The Mudcats wasted an early 5-1 lead while losing their sixth straight game

***

From Greg Young Jr.'s game summary linked above:

"Tristen Lutz, meanwhile, went 1-for-3 with a run and RBI before leaving the game in the fifth after landing awkwardly on a diving catch attempt in center during the fourth. Morrison ended up moving to center to replace Lutz in the outfield after originally starting the game at second."

You can see that catch as part of Lynchburg TV's highlight package here.

***

We learn later in the evening that Wisconsin OF LG Castillo has been transferred to Carolina. With Zach Clark on the injured list, only Wes Rogers and Rob Henry are true outfielders on the Mudcat roster.

***

Regardless of the Lutz situation, bad loss. Big early lead wasted, sloppy play, losing streak extended.

You know, just because this team is older and not "prospect-laden", didn't necessarily mean they would gel and produce all these wins. Kudo guys, and coaching staff, too.

Clayton Andrews is absolutely fascinating, hope he gets a Fall League slot. 2019 numbers: WHIP of 1.10 in 50 IP, batting line of .392/.446/.451 in 51 AB's. And all in a solid but 5'6" package.

AUDIO via the Rattler Radio Soundcloud: "In Friday's postgame podcast, Chris Mehring teaches Kyle Lobner a made-up word from his history that encapsulates the Friday's loss. There is a recap of the game, a look at the two high draft picks that were the starting pitchers in the game, an update on the playoff race, a little levity with a report on Pitchers' BP from this afternoon, and a few other tidbits. Hear clubhouse comments from Reese Olson and Matt Erickson, too."

Nothing against LG Castillo, that has to be a really cool flight he's making to Lynchburg. But with a .499 OPS in 222 AB's, Castillo (who just recently turned only 20 years old) can join a struggling Mudcats team while others remain with the Rattlers, who are three games out of a wild card spot. We've seen this type of promotion in years past.

Three Brewer pitchers combined to fan eight and walk only one. Clean defense. All but one batter reached base at least once. Five batters reach at least twice, including three times each for catcher Darrien Miller (two HBP's) and middle infielder (DH'ing here) Danny Casals.

Coaches pleased, the reports they like to file.

Very little offense, although second baseman Felix Valerio (Broxton trade) reached twice.

Box, Game One: DSL Brewers/Indians 4, DSL Indians 2

All Indians on the mound here (both sides).

OF Bryan Nino two hits, including a triple, in, what else, the DH spot (co-op theme of the week).

19-year-old switch-hitting corner infielder Francisco Gonzalez was 2-for-4, and has had a solid season (.753 OPS).

Box, Game Two: DSL Indians 6, DSL Brewers/Indians 1

RH relievers Deybi Arias and Ronnald Rojas, who we had featured earlier in the week's worth of co-op box scores we're catching up on, were victimized in the late innings.

Co-op offense shut down with a rare complete game (seven innings, just three hits and one walk).

Box, Game One: DSL Phillies "White" Squad 11, DSL Brewers 9

Still 16 years old for two more weeks, 3B Jesus Parra (.795 OPS) hit his 5th home run.

17-year-old Sebastian Burciaga with a 4-for-5 day.

Some of this team's youngest players have been the most productive in recent weeks, nice to see.

It was 11-5 before a bottom of the 9th four-inning rally fell short.

Box, Game Two: DSL Phillies "White" Squad 2, DSL Brewers 1

Completely different game in the nightcap, but still a loss.

The club is six games out of first place and their elimination number is down to just two. 34-31 record.

Yes, RHP Juan Gomez is older (22), and missed all of 2018, but give credit where due. Check out three of his last four outings in the game log linked.

Oh yeah, more goodness from 16-year-old Jesus Parra. Bat him leadoff, sure, on base three times! Caught stealing, but only for the 2nd time in 11 attempts.

Yum.
