Road Hotels

Not sure if there already is a topic for this. Anyone know any specific notes the Brewers have recently stayed at in away cities? Planning a number of 2020 trips. I know they used to stay at Westin’s a lot but not sure if that has changed.

San Diego - Omni.

Anyone?

Thanks Brew4u. I’ll make sure to book a room there!

I just figured that’s all they have in that dump of a city.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

You know I don't think fans of a team in Milwaukee can really call another city a dump. Milwaukee is probably one of the Top 5 biggest dumps in the United States...and Chicago ain't anywhere near being one of the ones worse.

Have you been to Milwaukee as it isn't either.

It is, but not exactly shocking as most old industrial cities are pretty big disasters.

More on topic the Brewers stay downtown somewhere in Chicago. I swear someone mentioned the hotel recently on here.

St Louis is hit or miss. Teams either stay at the Ritz or some stay at the Westin (right across the street). I recall an incident happening there and now teams tend to take the drive to the Ritz instead.

I really despise these (almost always online) discussions where entire cities get branded as dumps or worse words. I've been to 49 states, and basically every major metro besides a few, and they all have dumpy areas and really nice ones. I get the original comment was a joke, but I have a hard time calling downtown Milwaukee, with the revamped skyline, stunning art museum on the lakefront and McKinley Marina, a dump. Because it's not. And neither are a lot of the restaurants, the brand new state of the art arena, the nationally renowned sanctuary zoo, etc. Yes, if you venture into the ghetto which is probably larger than it should be, it's a dump. Just like every major American city. Obviously, Chicago is a great city, but it's always irritated me when people from WI trash Milwaukee. Referring to as a "top 5 dump" in the USA is asinine.

I agree with this all but I’m curious which state have you not visited? 49 is incredible.

I went to the Brewers v. Reds game in Cincinnati on June 15, 2013. Both myself and the Brewers were staying at the Westin in Cincinnati. Rode the elevator down on Saturday morning with Gallardo who was the starting pitcher that day.

Thanks for the Atlanta suggestion. Anyone know St Louis? Looking to go to Brewers Cardinals opening day.

I hope you're not expecting autographs or anything because players aren't even allowed to hang out in lobbies or meet with anyone outside the travelling party other than family members.

[sarcasm]If I've learned anything during the pandemic, it's that pro athletes always only do what they're allowed to do.[/sarcasm]

I mean, they obviously don't but are they going to risk fine/suspension/quarantine to sign an autograph? You probably come off as a dick if you say no or just blow someone off but I'd rather do that than have any of the alternatives suggested above.

I’m not “expecting” anything. And your right, the pandemic has most likely changed those interactions. However, in the past I have stayed at the same hotel as the team and have had countless interactions with players without overstepping bounds. Most of them are accommodating as long as you use some common sense. But you are right, those interactions probably will be limited
