Can’t wait to blow this absolute gift.

Thankfully our amazing lead off hitter is up.

Our amazing lead off hitter is on the bench.

You have a young player/prospect fetish...you really do. My advice?? Seek the necessary help.

I mean to be fair, you have the total opposite fetish for all things veterans and big name players.

Better than your weird low payroll team big name pitcher acquisition at all costs scheme.

I am beginning to think it was unwise for the Brewers to not trade for Trout at the deadline.

I would have gladly given up Grisham and Turang. Even Zack Brown if the Angels picked up half his salary.

Corey Ray's trade value is still good, right?

Maybe him instead of Grisham? Probably gotta throw in Drew Rasmussen then though to land that Trout.

Any idea why that is?? They are proven...Let's put it this way...if someone offered you a million dollars guaranteed, or a CHANCE to make two million in two years..Which one you taking?? Yeah, that's what I thought.

I mean...he ain’t really wrong. Think I will take Cain vs. a LHP pitcher though.

Sorry, that analogy doesn't work at all.

It has to be a balance. Your "proven > prospects everytime" method isn't always the right way either. I still remember people in 2016 literally saying we couldn't trade Braun for just Cody Bellinger, because Braun was proven and Bellinger was just a prospect. Just imagine how that would have worked out now.

The thing is, just because a guy is "proven" doesn't guarantee future performance, even over a prospect. Albert Pujols was "proven" at one time, as well. Guys age, things change. Sometimes, many times, the unproven prospect will outproduce the "proven" veteran in future performance.

Not only that, but there are so many variables at play -- club control, positional considerations, trade value, budget constraints, etc. for any of it ever to just neatly fit in a box that proven players are the way to go and prospects are just prospects.

I would have agreed last year, but coming into tonight Cain had a .309 OBP against LHPs this year (139 plate appearances).

Ben Gamel has a .448 OBP versus LHP this year (58 plate appearances) and Grisham had pretty even lefty/righty splits in the minors.

Not just “at Night” anymore.
