2019-08-13: Twins (Pérez) at Brewers (Anderson) [Brewers lose, 7-5 -- Grandal hits go ahead 3-run HR in 7th; Hader serves up first pitch 3-run HR in 8th]

Lucroy isn't nearly even equal to Pina. Evan Gattis? Sometimes I think people want change just to change. Flop the roster around every few weeks just to see something happen.

Yes, pina is way more valuable than lucroy. Relatively equal hitters, but pina is by far the superior defender.

You have a young player/prospect fetish...you really do. My advice?? Seek the necessary help.

Better than your weird low payroll team big name pitcher acquisition at all costs scheme.

:laughing This is simply the best thing I’ve seen on here for a bit.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I think it’s a bad ventriloquist act

I would like to see Freitas up ... but you pretty much made this point, almost verbatim, in this thread 2 1/2 hours ago.

I think with Grandal, you just have to trot him out there and hope he can turn it around. I'm not sure it does him much good to platoon or miss time. It might be somewhat better in the short term to play Pina against lefties and Braun at 1b, but obviously you get worse defensively at 1b and that probably is a negative impact on Grandal over the next month when he inevitably faces LH relievers late in games. Grandal is struggling on both sides of the plate right now, but I think you have to roll with him and hope he can find his early season magic.

Hey, for once one of my comments aged well!!!!!!

We all have one or two that do sometimes lol!!

I only brought up Gattis as a 1B type similar to Aguilar who is available for free. I never advocated him coming to the Brewers. The point was simply that there are literally hitters valued similar to Aguilar available for free.

Willie nailed it. This roster is flawed top to bottom. DS knew he messed this up in the off season. No reason to spend assets on a team that has too many holes.

Willie didn’t nail anything.

Even with a disfunctional roster and massive late season injuries, this team doesn’t “suck”. It just needs to get to September within a reasonable number of games from first place, and the roster will fix itself and so will the pitching.

I don't think we suck, but I also don't believe for a second our pitching problems just magically fix themselves when the calendar turns over to September.

Your expectations of the Devin Williams, Drew Rasmussen, and Ray Blacks of the world are way out of whack. Having good stuff doesn't just automatically translate into a lockdown reliever. Just ask Corbin Burnes.

I also think you guys are seriously underrating Pina. He has had painfully sporadic playing time and still holds an OPS north of .700 with good defense.

If he played daily I’d imagine he would float around the #15 ranked catcher in baseball.

Hoping this one turns out better than the day game in San Diego when Grandal’s 7th inning 3-run home run gave the Brewers a two run lead that they ultimately blew after letting an infield pop-up fall between defenders at the pitchers mound. The Brewers lost 8-7 in what was one of the toughest losses to stomach this season. Let’s get a much better outcome tonight.
Not just “at Night” anymore.

Even Barnes had a plus fastball and he stunk something awfull in the bigs.

Agree he'd be fine if he played all the time. I'm just as annoyed though with how some talk about Grandal.

Sporadic playing time is good for Pina. When he has to be ridden, he struggles and wears down.

He's probably one of, if not the best backup catcher in baseball.
