Man, that homer had to have felt good for Yasmani

You are right. That's not on Stearns. Just a big get for them even though Caratini seems pretty good.

I don't see how that's a big get. Lucroy sucks. He is about 1 win under replacement level this season. He just hasn't been good in a couple years.

Before anyone starts up the ol’ Lucroy lovefest. His straight numbers are bad. His analytical numbers are bad. The Cubs traded a legit major league ball player (Montgomery) for Maldonado and then traded Maldonado away requiring them to go out and get Lucroy. I don’t think he makes the 2019 Cubs better than they were before.

Are Cubs fans mad their GM allowed us to get Jordan Lyles?

Why are we mad the Cubs picked up some bad player? If Lucroy does good it is a fluke and they got him right when he decided to get hot.

I would like to see Freitas up ... but you pretty much made this point, almost verbatim, in this thread 2 1/2 hours ago.

I think with Grandal, you just have to trot him out there and hope he can turn it around. I'm not sure it does him much good to platoon or miss time. It might be somewhat better in the short term to play Pina against lefties and Braun at 1b, but obviously you get worse defensively at 1b and that probably is a negative impact on Grandal over the next month when he inevitably faces LH relievers late in games. Grandal is struggling on both sides of the plate right now, but I think you have to roll with him and hope he can find his early season magic.

Hey, for once one of my comments aged well!!!!!!

Willie nailed it. This roster is flawed top to bottom. DS knew he messed this up in the off season. No reason to spend assets on a team that has too many holes.

Willie didn’t nail anything.

Even with a disfunctional roster and massive late season injuries, this team doesn’t “suck”. It just needs to get to September within a reasonable number of games from first place, and the roster will fix itself and so will the pitching.

It's not a big get, or any kind of get at all. It's nostalgic ex Brewer love.
