Has Grandal ever scored from first on a double in his life? High school? Little league? Whiffle ball?

I’m sure he has, but even healthy Yelich wouldn’t have scored from first on Pina’s hit.

I swear it seems like everyone hits doubles when he’s on and he never freaking scores. Even with two outs

You would think one time he get around the bases.

Side note. The Indians beat the Twins tonight to move into a tie for first place after being 11 games out on June 15.

And this despite Jose Ramirez looking like Travis Shaw (2019 edition) for much of the year, Kluber and Salazar out, and they freaking traded Trevor Bauer—who Milwaukee would fall all over themselves justifying his craziness because of how pitching-starved we are. And somehow it all works. They’re like the Bizarro Brewers.

Which HASN’T inflated his numbers because he’s NOT a homerun hitter.

.370+ .460+ this year > juiced ball year.

.340+ .430+ last year > non juiced ball year.

But all these stats have already been shown for the last month or two in numerous threads, although they are a little higher now.

Ok, I’ll admit those splits aren’t nearly as pronounced as I thought they’d be. But you don’t have to be a home-run hitter to benefit from a ball that travels farther.

302 PA > 43 Ks > 14.7%

Anything below 16% is considered ELITE. I’m sorry but for some to keep calling him a journeyman is a technically ok, but not really.

He only had 146 ABs last year in AAA (39 games). He also doesn't hit for a lot of power (ISO is 188 this year 178 last year which is good but for a guy hitting 370 with no speed it's kinda low, IMO).

But I am willing to give him a shot as a Sept callup for sure. I just wouldn't expect Hiura success.

ETA: According to Baseball Reference, Grandal has scored from first on a double 7 times in his career, including once this year. That’s out of 56 times that he has been on first when a double was hit.

That wasn’t a double. Pina essentially took second because nobody was covering

Doesn’t matter what they do this month, if they win all their games in September.

Hmmm. This sounds interesting. Sounds like another burnes coming to save the day part 1,425,677 post.

Yes win every one of em. Undefeated for the month. George Webb’s x 2. + 95 run differential.

Wobbly Hader coming in for a 5-out save with a one-run lead on a night the zone is about as wide as a thimble. I got a bad feeling about this.

EDIT: I should emphasize, I wouldn’t feel good about anyone in this spot, tbh.

In general I still feel very good about Hader. The issue with him is constantly having to rely on him in unfavorable situations (3 straight days, multiple innings, etc) simply because we can't count on anyone in the pen at all.

There have been so many guys who have been given opportunities to step into a high leverage role this year. Barnes, Williams, Jeffress, Burnes, Peralta, just to name a few, and for the most part, none have been able to see it.

It's one of the reasons I absolutely hate having Houser back in the rotation. He was far and away our #2 guy in the pen, and now it's back to just throwing crap at the wall and trying to get through the late innings.

Ramirez has an OPS over 1.000 since mid June, so he has been a big contributor to their turnaround.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
