Kind of funny this is being discussed here. Where I work is Packer jerseys on game days as pretty common apparel. I was looking through my closet this morning and realized I don't own a single jersey of a current player. I currently have:

Charles Woodson

Jordy Nelson

Clay Mathews (Pro Bowl)

Randall Cobb

Brett Favre

I'm rocking the 21 Woodson today.... Guess I will have to get with the times and get a current jersey at some point this year.

I'm fairly meh on Cobb, but the rest of those will be classic jerseys of star caliber players. Favre, Woodson, and maybe Nelson will make the HOF if they haven't already. I don't track that, but I have to assume Favre is in. Nice set of jerseys. My only jersey is an oversized AJ Hawk...the only use for that will be to throw over all my winter gear if/when I attend the late December games.

Jersey rules:

1) Week before the first game is not a time to spend even a minute thinking about your jersey number.

2) I love retro jerseys, but would never wear one. I'm a fan, not a player. (Love the retro Chargers and Oilers for example.)

3) Above all else, you can't get a Packers #69 jersey with your name on it. Strictly forbidden.

I don't really wear jerseys for the reasons mentioned by most of just being too old for it. Exceptions being actually going to the game, and really all I have for that is a couple older Brewers ones, like Greg Vaughn.

Another exception I see and I think makes sense is basketball jerseys if you're doing outdoorys active things, stuff many people wear a tank top for anyway. So, why not where a bball jersey as its just like any other tank top? Think of playing volleyball, boating, pool days, jogging, etc. Another note: If you're around a younger crowd at all (I'm in Madison so a younger city) it is very very common for people mid 20s and under to just wear basketball jerseys just for the heck of it for anything. Bit of a newer trend the last 5ish years. That said, they're young so it's different.

Not that it was ever a legit possibility, but it appears that the Packers dodged a major bullet by staying out of the Antonio Brown talks. Wow, that guy has completely gone off the rails.

That's what I was thinking....then I listened to what Steve Yount had to say. He moved me a bit with his comments as he's pretty persuasive. You're talking about how you support him, he left an organization who he felt didn't support him(and Big Ben made some pointless comments that were either vaguely or directly aimed at him) so he already feels a bit resentful and then they fine him?

I don't know, Young's point was that Mayock traded for him and is now trying to be a tough guy. He knew AB was a diva and Young basically said Superstars deserved to be treated differently. Something he learned under Walsh who apparently did this regularly(though the Pats never do this according to Gronk).

I mean...I'm glad we didn't sign him as well, but it does seem like that organization is just in straight-up clown mode and it's really easy to picture Mayock being the "tough guy." It just seemed like everything was over...he was getting ready for the first game, back healthy, got the helmet figured out..and Mayock fines him and then apparently insults him to his face.

It's more about expectations. I expect Brown to act like a Diva...and I expect him to be a great player. I don't expect the GM to unnecessarily provoke the situation just as it settled down. But I appreciate how very few will agree with me. Hell, I didn't even agree with me until I heard Steve Young give his opinion and a few others share theirs.

Don't see Nelson coming all that close to getting in. Butler's the guy who should be in who's not even getting consideration. Why John Lynch is in, but not Butler is baffling. Oh, and Sharpe.

Anyway, I have a couple of Jersey's. I have the Blue throwbacks Woodson's. Got it for standing up in a wedding, but I actually do like those. I know everyone else thinks they're ugly. I had a Favre, but my Mom thought it was funny to cross it out and write something on it...something not even remotely clever....my mistake for leaving clothing at my parents. And I have a White, Rodgers and a Nitschke.

And I've never worn a single one anywhere but to a Packers game.

Also, to whoever said no adult should wear a BB Jersey, you could not be more right.

Should be interesting to see how the Packers receivers fare this year. Looking at last year half the TDs came from Adams (no one else even had more than two) and no one else was within half a galaxy of 1k+ yards.

That is kind of pathetic considering the QB throwing. I’d imagine MVS will break out to some degree, but will there be a third major target? Will Graham actually be a big weapon at TE? Is Aaron Jones actually going to be as good as the hype?

A lot of questions surround this offense...something not so common in the Rodger era.

Well it certainly isn't the conditioning and medical staff. :Eyeroll: Every...damn...year.

Or maybe teams report injuries differently.

Bryan Bulaga is on the INJURY report for "veterans rest."

Jimmy Graham for a finger.

Martinez...who said he was fine and has played is on there for his back. The "back" injury that he said was just a bit tight, wouldn't be a problem the regular season," 3 weeks ago?

And then there are the Pats who almost played a joke on the NFL until last year by putting Tom Brady on the report virtually every single week with injuries that were almost certainly manufactured.

The Packers probably have the best medical staffs and facilities in the NFL. Maybe Pro Sports. Not likely it's on them.

Season Predictions

-10-6

The first half is a brutal schedule, but at least they're mostly home games. 4-4 would be solid. Packers start out very slowly offensively, nothing new there, but their defense keeps them afloat. Strong finish like McCarthy's first year, but a more talented team so they win 10 games and the division.

-Packers double their Picks from last year.

-Breakout player Offense; I'd go with Aaron Jones, but he had nearly 1,000 yards last year, and has averaged 5.5 YPC, so I'll go with Tonyan. 50 catches, 700 yards 5 TD's.

-Breakout player Defense; Raven Greene. He'll play near the LOS and get 8+sacks/INT's/FF/FR for the year.

ROY-Jenkins...too good not to take over the second someone hobbles off the field and he won't relinquish the job.

2nd-Gary- The guy is extremely athletic and plays hard. But he won't end up with 10 sacks so people will call him a disappointment.

-Defense doubles their total number of picks from last year.

-Packers are in the top 3 in turnover differential.

Kenny Clark becomes a All-Pro for the first time.

Bakh becomes one for the...I don't know, 3rd/4th depending on which team you're talking about.

Bulaga stays healthy and Rodgers gets sacks less than 40 times.

Packers get 8 into the Pro Bowl. Bakh, Clark, Rodgers, Linsley, Alexander, Adams, Bulaga...and a DB to be named later.

I will go with a basic prediction:

11-5

I was between 9-7 and 11-5 .I will go with the higher because I think they did improve nicely and there should be some default improvement just because it takes a pretty big disaster to win 6 games with Rodgers under helm. You almost have to go up from there.

They need to win close games...I think they can do that, I hope.

My only concern was(still is) that first half of the season. You know the offense will be sluggish to start the season. They have been before when it wasn't a new offense.

At Chi

vs Minn

vs Den(not a good team, but elite edge rushers in Miller and Chubbs)

vs Philly

At Dallas-Another really good defense with those young LB'ers

Vs Det

Vs Oak

At KC

At LA Chargers-Really underrated D

The schedule gets much-much easier after that. So just win 4 or 5 of their first 9 and 11 wins is definitely attainable.

The Bears schedule is even tougher with the Saints and the Rams on it. So this second half is huge to start the season.

The fan complaints surprise me. Why would you buy a jersey of someone you’ve never seen play professionally unless they were from your home town or alma mater? I’m asking this question as someone who learned his lesson after buying a Joe Alexander Bucks jersey.

This one always disappointed me. I wanted to get my son (Alexander) a jersey, but the guy was so bad so quick, I never bothered. I'd offer to buy yours, but its probably from the horrible Christmas-color era.

Winning the opener at Chicago is huge. Not only for taking the defending champs down a notch but already establishing a favorable tiebreaker position. Now you only have 2 more divisional road games the rest of the season. If you can split those two and take care of business at home you're likely in position to win any tie for the division.

Hopefully they can keep it going next week.

And the Bears play the Saints and Rams. This is why the Bears almost never have good back to back years. When they have to play a 1st place schedule, they struggle.

What are the odds Antonio Brown is a Patriot in a few weeks?

That was my first thought too. Just seems like a guy the Patriots will take. I kinda hope the Packers explore bringing him in. I wouldn’t mind having Adams and Brown as our 1-2 punch.

Chances of the Patriots finding a way to fit Brown under the cap = 90%. They just find a way. And he would immediately discard the diva weirdness and be a stud again.

The Packers chances of even being interested in Brown, I think, are less than 1%. Doesn't fit the culture and is a "me" and drama guy, which that team outwardly tries to avoid. And I don't think Brown would push his personality aside as a Packer.

I'd be all about bringing Brown in if they thought they could reign him in. He hasn't done anything heinous or unforgivable, he's just a head case.

Unfortunately I doubt they can. It's just too much to ask out of a rookie head coach that already has enough on his plate.

Agreed he will probably end up in New England for cheap, catch 20 touchdowns and not make a peep.

I do not like this "Packer type," thing that people talk about. If he's good enough for the Pats, he's fine for the Packers. The Packers have been interested in plenty of "me guys," even when Ted was here, we've stuck with guys through drug suspensions for PED's(probably should have stuck with Pennel a bit longer). The idea that his character isn't good enough for GB, but good enough for NE is a bit annoying. And that's not directed at you, it's just a common theme I heard. FWIW, I'd be 100 pct on board with bringing him in and given our interest in trading for him, I'm guessing they'd still be interested....I'm also gonna guess that there will be a major disconnect between what he thinks his value is vs what it realistically is given everything.

It's two organizations he's burned bridges with and they're not going to give him a big guaranteed deal. The Pats won't either. Now you could say in both cases, those organizations have problems and I could defend him for how they treated him in Pitt or in Oakland given that I think it's just a clown car situation there with Gruden and Mayock, but not with both. You also had Head Coaches in Tomlin and Gruden, two big time players coaches couldn't reign him in. So either Brown swallows his pride and signs for...a reasonable contract, or he doesn't play again. I don't know what's reasonable. But it's not what he was scheduled to make in Oakland. It sure as hell isn't more than...

This is a guy who just asked to be released when he was set to make 28 million each of the next two years(base+guarantees).

I don't think he's a bad dude and I don't think this is like paying an Albert Haynesworth type player, but Brown clearly cannot be trusted to invest big money into. My guess is he'll want something close to what Julio Jones just got...and that's silly. I'd do it if none of it was guaranteed. He's that good.

I do think Mayock sabotaged that situation. Fining him when they were publicly supporting him, they knew how he'd react and then fining him again nullifying the guarantees....that's just stupid. You know who you traded for. You KNOW he's gonna react and use Social Media. So....this whole thing is just a mess and unless AB wants to play for a year at 8 million or so and then try to prove he can perform and behave, I don't think anyone should touch him and I don't think he'd entertain that for one second.
