The Packers have placed Sternberger on IR and have promoted Lazard to the active roster. Good move IMO, they probably were not going to use Sternberger early in the season anyways. This lets him heal the ankle completely, and continue to develop without burning up a roster spot. Wouldn't shock me if there was a team interested in Lazard and GB figured they would need to protect him anyways.

Ever since I realized how big our WR are this year, I've been obsessed with the idea of having giant receivers to help with run blocking(and big targets for Rodgers for a change). Lazard being the biggest, makes me very happy we made this move.

Me warning one guy is not a reason to jump in and get the last word. You guys were asked to move on from this topic and have not. See you tomorrow.

In addition, I deleted the last couple posts. Admins are here to keep things from devolving into the chaos of other boards. Please listen.

A few predictions on the eve of kickoff:

1) The Packers finish 9-7 and narrowly miss the playoffs

2) Aaron Rodgers is still a Pro Bowl QB (30 TD, 8 INT)

3) Kevin King plays in fewer than 10 games

4) Dexter Williams or Tra Carson start at least 1 game at RB

5) Jake Kumerow has at least 4 TDs: cements folk hero status

6) Darnell Savage impresses; Rashan Gary disappoints

7) Elgton Jenkins finishes the year as a starter on the OL.

8) The Packers lose at least one game to the Lions.

9) Vikings also finish 9-7; Mike McCarthy is their next HC.

A few predictions on the eve of kickoff:

1) The Packers finish 9-7 and narrowly miss the playoffs I think this is worst case. I see 11 wins if their major contributors stay healthy. I think this is a much more talented team than what they put out last year.

2) Aaron Rodgers is still a Pro Bowl QB (30 TD, 8 INT) Yep ... health permitting of course

3) Kevin King plays in fewer than 10 games Dang, I hope this is wrong, because that guy could be a stud if healthy. Unfortunately he strikes me as a guy who struggles to stay healthy until he moves on to a different team, where he'll suddenly be a durable All-Pro, ala Casey Hayward.

4) Dexter Williams or Tra Carson start at least 1 game at RB Yeah, probably. Jones isn't durable enough to start the whole year, and Jamal Williams is pretty meh

5) Jake Kumerow has at least 4 TDs: cements folk hero status

6) Darnell Savage impresses; Rashan Gary disappoints Gary has a great motor. I think he'll be fine. I guess it depends on what your definition of disappoints is.

7) Elgton Jenkins finishes the year as a starter on the OL. Agree, I think he's going to be a stud for a long time. Perhaps the heir apparent at RT.

8) The Packers lose at least one game to the Lions. I guess it wouldn't surprise me, but I think the Lions are going to suck, so I don't know.

9) Vikings also finish 9-7; Mike McCarthy is their next HC. LOL, that would be funny. I think the Vikings are overrated. Cousins sucks.

Old man warning: I'm glad he went back, regardless of him doing it or the Packers/NFL nudging him in that direction. I have nothing against rap music but I thought the whole schtick was incredibly stupid. Just as stupid as some guy named Swift wearing 89. Full disclosure that I had to Google what 21 Savage was. Please keep that crap off the field, I am fine with touchdown dances and whatever but this one felt unbelievably dumb.

I’m aware of the music connection and it means very little to me. When he was assigned (or chose) #26 after the draft, it just felt like a placeholder. All of the ‘good’ numbers were taken. I don’t blame the guy for switching once something else became available. He wore #4 at Maryland and I half expected him to take #24. Josh Jones pulled his own switcheroo in the off season after two full years, rendering #24 unavailable post draft.

Edit: The jersey number discussion is inconsequential to me. This is just offseason chatter until real football starts tonight. Please don’t think I’m bent out of shape over this.

I didn't think that, I thought that's how I would come off. I'm in my early 30s, and as soon as I saw it and knew why people were "amped" about it, I thought, wow, that's dumb. Someone who could (has been) arrested or just irrelevant in a couple years. I don't think the NFL with all its image concerns was particularly enthralled with a guy giving a convicted felon free publicity. No matter what reason you think he wanted #21, that was the result. It's his first year in the league and he really has no ground to push back on it.

But I really don't know a whole lot about the guy, it could've been a Jojo Siwa reference and I'd have thought it was just as stupid.

The fan complaints surprise me. Why would you buy a jersey of someone you’ve never seen play professionally unless they were from your home town or alma mater? I’m asking this question as someone who learned his lesson after buying a Joe Alexander Bucks jersey.

I still have a Terry Glenn Packers jersey hanging in my closet.

I saw a Zion Williamson Pelicans jersey in Madison the other day.

My basic prediction for the year is a return to the playoffs for GB but no SB. Bears will not make the playoffs and have their usual dip after a good year like has been customary for basically my whole life. Obviously tonight could go a long way in that prediction. Bears should be fired up and have a big advantage, but this is typically when Rodgers rips their hearts out. So that's what I'll predict, but I'm by no means confident with how poorly GB usually starts on O and Rodgers being hurt a bunch already and not playing at all in preseason with a new offense.

I personally don't get jerseys unless you're under the age of about 16 but I know they're wildly popular. I just go for generic team tees since most of the jerseys look silly within 3 years. At least with a rookie you usually know you get at least that much time. But they also could bust so I never really got it.

I’m 33. Here is the list of Packer jerseys I’ve bought or have been gifted in my lifetime and their approximate year of purchase:

#34 Edgar Bennett (1994)

#89 Mark Chmura (1996)

# 4 Brett Favre (1997)

#84 Bill Schroeder (2000)

#80 Donald Driver (2006)

#11 Brian Brohm (2009) - $14.99 on clearance

I can’t bring myself to buy a jersey of someone who is younger than me, but I may make an exception for a neat looking throwback (I regret not buying one of the ‘power ball’ jerseys) or if I get caught up in the euphoria of a Super Bowl win.

I bet you get a lot of compliments on that one when you wear it. To me, the best jerseys are the obscure player jerseys. Kittrick Taylor is one I saw at a GB game an immediately congratulated the guy wearing it.

Indeed, the Joe Alexander jersey is a badge of honor.

The biggest reason I haven’t bought a new Packer jersey in 10 years is because I like wearing the nostalgic ones. Though, as a grown man, I feel like it’s no longer acceptable for me to wear a basketball jersey unless I’m suiting up (personal preference, not judging).

For sure! The odd ones are always my favorite. I don't have then anymore, but I used to have Mark Tauscher and Travis Jervey jerseys.

I had a buddy in school who was a fanatical Eric Dickerson fan and Packer fan, and he was so elated when the up-and-coming Packers traded John Stephens to the Falcons for Dickerson in 1993 that he immediately went to one of those "get a jersey made" places and got an authentic #29 Dickerson Packers jersey, only to find out that the deal was nullified the next day because Dickerson failed his physical. He still has it. That one is about as obscure as it gets.

A jersey pet peeve of mine is when people order custom jerseys of a former player in a current jersey style. For example, someone in my office is wearing a new Nike Bart Starr jersey that looks no different than an Aaron Rodgers jersey, except for the name and number. To each their own, I guess.

The last one I bought was a Chinese knock off of Tim Masthay

What size did you have to order, 5-times XL?

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I personally take credit for the retro jersey trend and MKE bring back the ball and glove. Had legit 80s Bird and Moncrief jerseys I'd wear in the late 90s as a high schooler. And found a bunch of old actual 80s ball and glove hats in my parents basement and wore in the late 90s. Like 3 years later the trend started, I assume I crossed paths with Nelly somewhere
