Watching this season makes Game 7 of the NLCS all the more devastating.

Everything you've waited for, for years, everything they've worked for, comes down to 1 game, and you lose that game. You just don't know when you'll get that chance again. Last time it took 7 years to get that chance again. It may take 2 now, it may take 20. I don't know.

I hate saying this, but I don't see the hope for the future that everyone else sees. There's no farm system here, and Keston Hiura is the only real blue chip young talent under 25 on the roster. You've got rosters like the Padres and Braves just loaded with young talent, both on the MLB roster and the farm. We just don't have that here, and it doesn't look like we'll have it anytime soon.

Things look pretty bleak right now compared to where they looked a year ago.

Losing to the cardinals in 2011 nlcs was worse. We were just a better team than them. The dodgers were pretty good. The thing that sucked about last year was just like the bucks. We had them beat but couldn’t stamp on their neck. Just like jeffress blowing game two and the long extra inning game and the double overtime loss. Just win one of those games and blithe teams get over the hump

I’m beginning to think that bullpen success is so statistically noisy that it may be a fool’s errand to invest serious resources in that area. You just can’t count on anybody year to year. It was not foolish at the time to favor internal options over major outside additions. This criticism is revisionist history.

Have you seen our bullpen? If you aren't going to bring in any outside people we might as well trade Yelich, Hiura, and Woodruff this offseason.

Have you seen bullpens across the league? They stink on ice. The league is going through a major adjustment due to changing approaches of batters and the new baseball. I wouldn’t be surprised if we look back on the last couple years as a new era in baseball as stark as the shift from the dead ball. It’s a minefield out there. Hader goes from unhittable to thoroughly mortal this year. Edwin Diaz goes from greatest reliever in the game to nuclear disaster this year. Kimbrel is borderline HoF and is an absolute roulette wheel since the end of last year. Who do you trust? Unless you’re sure, doesn’t make a ton of sense for a team with very limited resources to pay sticker price on relief arms.

Does anyone know of a site that would have the collective ERA of the opposing starter/team? It would be interesting to see how difficult the season was for the Brewers in regards to opponent’s ERA. I’d guess that they underperformed against the starter’s normal ERA.

I will never fully forgive Counsell for pitching to Cody Bellinger with a gassed Junior Guerra in the 13th inning of Game 4 with the winning run in scoring position when he could have walked both Bellinger and Grandal to face the pitcher with 2 outs and no pinch hitters available. That would have almost certainly forced a 14th inning and we'll never know what might have happened, but going up 3-1 could have changed the course of history.

Right there with you. After that loss I was done for this year. Can't expect magic like last year every year. Just so much excitement, expecting to win that Colorado series because we just that the mojo. Had opportunities to win the NLCS too. Jeffress lost that series both game two and game seven. Been done with him since then. He's been done since then.

And yeah, time for another rebuild because we don't have the ammo.

2019 Brewers' lineup motto:

"We faced some tough pitching, okay?"

Never go full Yost.

The team with the best record in the NL last year thought it could get over the hump by hiring the assistant hitting coach of the most underachieving offense in the league, so I expect Jason Lane will be a hot commodity in the off-season.

Does the team look as lifeless live as they do in the box scores? I haven't be able to justify handing out money to mlb.tv to watch the meltdown

Stomping out whatever life is left on this roster. The Cubs have probably been waiting for this since game 163.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.
