It might still be too early to call this a must win series, but if the Brewers can’t at least avoid a sweep even the biggest optimists will have to realize that they are getting into a difficult position. Two more losses would bring the Brewers to within a game of ..500, put them 4 games behind the Cubs, and push them further back in the wild card race. They are quickly getting closer to teams like the Mets, Giants, and Diamondbacks than they are to the top wild card contenders with the season past the two-thirds mark.

If the Brewers are going to turn things around it has to start soon. I keep watching for signs of the offense coming out of its doldrums, but it hasn’t been able to sustain any momentum from the encouraging Arizona series or the excitement of the two late game comebacks over the Cubs. Even Yelich has looked shaky at the plate; he has been striking out much more frequently than he did in his first season and a half with the Brewers. Just 15 runs in the last 5 games has been the main reason they have lost 4 of those games.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

I don’t know why I fully expected to see a flurry of transactions to our MLB club today. Sorry for the negativity at 9am on a game day but it’s getting to be an absolute joke.

Nope. An absolute joke is when Dante Bichette is your best player. An absolute joke is when you feel bad sending Ricky Bones to the all star game because your team needs a rep and you know you are taking the honor away from a deserving player. If you have been a Brewers fan for any amount of time ... you will agree that being above .500 and within reach of the playoffs come August is a luxury for our team.

Are expectations different for this team and this era of Crew Ball? Yep. Have the injuries and list of under performing players been frustrating given the hype. Yep.

An absolute joke? Come on man.

You answered it yourself. Whether they go on to the post season is one thing for me but they’re not even trying to rearrange the roster to give them possibly the best shot at it. Jackson, Guerra, Jeffress in the pen still? I mean, what are we waiting for? Already going to be a difficult climb. They traded for arms, use them.

Tired of the old folk telling people it’s okay because it’s been a terrible franchise to follow. I mean, what? It makes no sense to live in the past with conversations like this.

Here's your flurry!

Milwaukee Brewers

@Brewers

·

RHP Aaron Wilkerson has been recalled from Triple-A San Antonio. RHP Jay Jackson has been optioned there.

So our deadline acquisitions stay in San Antonio in favor of AAAAron Wilkerson. :indifferent

Oh my. :laughing It’s no wonder why people have the mindset they do after following this team for decades.

Grisham hit lefties well in San Antonio, right? Why call him up if you aren't going to play him? Until this team attacks lefties, teams are going to keep throwing every junk southpaw they can find against them.

Yep. Just another dumb decision in the long list of them between CC and Stearns.

I understand we’re facing 2 lefties in a row, but what’s the point of calling up Grisham if he’s not going to play? Better to have him continue to stay hot in AAA vs. not getting ABs for multiple days in a row riding a big league bench.

He was also OPSing 1.050 against lefties in AAA. So he's not a big split guy. Agreed, calling him up to rot on the bench is stupid. He didn't even get a plate appearance yesterday.

My word! Wilkerson is absolute garbage, and we give up arguably one of our top 3 prospects for a 29-year old fireballer who they leave in AAA? Gross.

I am assuming Stearns is still making the decisions, which is really depressing as this season is turning into a Herb Kohl season - let's do enough to just scrape into the last seed and hope... No strategic planning, just playing for that small chance...

Where is plan B? Plan A was a starting rotation with 3 "rookies". I haven't seen a Plan B since Plan A went into the crapper...

- Nelson service time bungling

- Hiura back down?

- Shaw back up?

- Dubon traded for ??

- Deadline acquisitions can't even make roster over Jay Jackson and Aaron Wilkerson

- Grisham promoted to not play

Never has there been a year when I've been so disgusted and disappointed with our moves. We didn't upgrade, didn't sell, didnt do anything. It's like they're trolling us.

And every time I try to think they are playing some sort of long game (like optioning Saladino ahead of the Cubs series), they don't do it. I thought for sure Perez would be back up, but here we are, with a crap ton of lefty hitters against a predominantly lefty starting staff in a huge series.

It really adds a lot of tarnish to the Golden Boy reputation Stearns earned the first few years. I really wonder who is making the decisions, because if this is Stearns I am shocked at the level of ineptitude given his past performance. It's been about a year of poor roster management/transactions. A year of almost EVERY decision blowing up. Even the one's that look positive (adding Grandal and Moose) are being negated by the absolute implosion of every other decision.

I think it's the recycling though utter crap relievers at the end of the roster is what irks me the most. Every one of them is a MLB veteran retread, many given up on from other organizations, instead of actually giving young, talented guys a shot. I'm so sick of watching the Jay Jacksons, Burch Smiths, Harts, Petrickas and a host of other get smacked around

Agree, this is what I was afraid would happen to be honest.

Our roster management continues to be questionable.

Problem is, the newer fans haven't experienced the crap that the older fans went through. Those that started following the team in 2008 have no idea what this franchise was like prior.

It's not their fault, they just have expectations that we didn't grow up with...

This is an older team with a league worst farm team. The outfield is full with Yelich and two bad contracts so I’m not sure what Grissom can do at this point unless Braun is to play a lot of 1B?

The recent pick ups seem to be on the back burner which is odd. Maybe once they got a close look they saw something they didn’t like?

Wow, the forum is in desperate need of a Brewers win!

I don’t think Grisham is going to rot the bench, more likely he’s not going to start against lefties. It’s two games...

Perez isn’t coming back up, he’s off the 40 man. I don’t see the point in loosing a guy like Taylor just so Perez can face two lefties.

The bullpen arms like Black were probably acquired more for the next 2-3 years. That Dubon trade will be best judged years from now.

With the expectations this year I get why people are frustrated. A couple wins here this weekend sure would go a long ways...
