2019-08-01: Brewers (Anderson) at Athletics (Bailey) 2:37 PM CDT [Brewers lose, 5-3 -- Trent Grisham’s MLB Debut; Bullpen blows lead by allowing 4 runs over final 2 innings]

Eye Black
Do NOT under any circumstances bring fastball Freddy into this game, if it stays at a 1 run lead.

He's like our second best relief pitcher, and the best one isn't available, so....

This may be true but personally, I'd hate to admit that in public.

Not sure why they'd bring Hader in, that probably rules him out for the first two Cubs games. :angry

Play for today. Who knows if we even need him over the weekend. Blowout wins or losses will make that moot. Win today and let the weekend take care of itself.

A fun reminder that Freddy Peralta has actually been good as a reliever and has electric stuff out of the pen.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Hader up in the pen? Has he worked 3 straight games like literally ever?

He has pitched 3 times in 4 days before (few times), but doesn't appear he has ever done three consecutive days since entering the majors.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I get that 100%. It just seems odd that he hasn't used him in 3 straight games all year(and has had plenty of chances), now in a series against an AL team with your biggest rival on deck and NOW you use him 3 straight?? I mean, I felt good about closing this out with Pomeranz, I'd have saved Josh, but hell, what do I know??

Well, no first hit for Grisham.

Nope. First RBI, though!

I think the most important thing for me today was that he never looked overmatched by MLB pitching. Maybe a little more anxious than normal, but put everything in play. The hits will come.

Three straight days for Guerra.

Odds on keeping the ball in the park for a whole inning?

Not only would more runs make this game more comfortable, but it might have helped save the pen a little for the Cubs series.

Dude, when's the last time you said something without a whiny undertone? Are you sure you even like the Brewers?

Dude, if I didn’t like the Brewers why would I waste my time complaining when they repeatedly fail to convert scoring chances?

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
