Idk about that, they must be expecting HUGE things, no one wanted to deal him, and now they want him to start at least three times a week, you'd think he's the next Ken Griffey Jr right?? Everyone is basing how good he is off how well he is hitting in AAA...that is a FACT. But then say you can't use AAA #'s for guys like Saladino etc. Double standard. If he starts off like saladino did I can hear the excuses already "the kid doesn't play enough", or this or that or anything else they can think of. If he's as bad as Saladino there will NOT be a single person on these boards trying to run him back to AAA immediately like they are with Saladino, not one. It will be Counsell's fault for not playing him enough, or not hitting him in the order where he should..I'm grabbing my popcorn for this one, for sure.

This is literally not a fact, and putting it in all caps won’t make it a fact, either. There’s a wide gulf between Saladino and Griffey. Everyone’s assessment of Grisham seems to fall somewhere in between those extremes, and rightly so, since they are, you know, sane. That still allows for a huge range of outcomes, which we can all hold in good faith and discuss with civility. They’re attempting to field the best 25-man team they have, which is all you can ask for post-deadline. That’s all you can ask for.

Anyone know what his defense is like in CF? A quick google search ranges from nope-average.

It seems like the prevailing opinion around here from the Grisham minor league thread is that he is a left fielder in the majors. Not a great arm and has lost speed since he was drafted.

How about many of us are just happy that a 1st round draft pick has played so well this season that he is getting called up to the majors at the age of 22?

Im excited to see him play.....there are no guarantees.........you sure don't seem to get much enjoyment out of being a fan..........

With the way everyone here slobbers all over him, I sure as hell hope there are ZERO excuses if he doesn't take off instantly the way Hiura has. I've followed him as much as everyone else, with his numbers(which so many are slobbering all over in AAA yet, saying you can't use AAA #'s as a gauge of anything for other Brewers) I'm expecting Ken Griffey Jr. No less, that's the way so many here talk about him so...

Boy, this has not been a good deadline day for you. You know no one is expecting Grisham to duplicate his AAA numbers in MLB, right?

Can we bench this debbie downer for a couple days. The whining because we didn't acquire an Ace is quite intolerable.

You do not call him up now to sit him on the bench. He plays 4 games a week immediately.

That being said, trading Braun Gamel Aguilar starts for Braun Gamel Grisham starts isn't going to make a big impact.

Guys with reasonable contracts and Thames numbers don't get dfa.......they either play or get traded.......since he isn't getting traded until at least after the season I think we can safely assume he will have a role going forward.

The Brewers don't like to throw their rookies to the wolves. Won't be surprised at all if he isn't starting tonight. Willing to bet that they give him a day to acclimate to the clubhouse and team, watch the game from the bench to get a feel for the majors, and pinch hit him in a somewhat lower pressure situation.

Don't freak out if that happens.

He's not in the lineup tonight. He may not even be active tonight since the move hasn't been announced yet.

He isn't even there yet...........I doubt he is even active tonight since that wou.d require another move which hasn't been announced yet.

Jesus gone.....Lyles active......roster currently full......2 moves will have to be made for Grisham and Pomeranz tomorrow.

Yeah, I don’t think he will even be active tonight... Guessing the official move comes tomorrow.

And Ken Griffey Jr. can exhale, his legacy is safe for one more day.

Surprising. Thought for sure they'd wait until September. They must really like the kid.

Well the whole 'base promotions on AAA stats in San Antonio' has worked so well with Shaw and Saladino that they thought they can't wait to September for Grisham.

Next up, David Freitas.

Let's forget about the fact that he's destroyed everyone's numbers in AAA. Not just Shaw and Saladino but Hiura's too.

Cc confirms he will be starting tomorrow

Awesome! It won't make us much better in the present but I hope he proves that when Braun is released in 2021 MKE won't lose anything and will save a nice chunk of money.

Just hit .264/.324 with an OPS of .800 (Braun's last 3 years) (I expect a higher OBP but less power)

I was mostly making a snarky comment about the Brewers roster management and decisions this year. I like Grisham and think the Brewers should be doing a lot more of bringing up their prospects mid-season to get them acclimated, giving them a bigger role on the team as they show they can deal/deliver. I hope Grisham is seriously treated as a replacement for Braun next year. And before Brew4U goes into cardiac arrest as he replies to my post, I think the Brewers need to base starts on production and future value and stop trying to justify their sunk cost. Braun was a great player. He no longer is and each day he gets older and his natural ability diminishes and he needs to be the first PH off the bench, an occasional starter in LF and 1B and the primary DH for Interleague games next year. It's close to Grisham time...

Oh they won't stop treating Braun like a legacy. It drives me nuts too. Yelich Hiura Grandal Moose Thames have out produced him. Yet he gets a lot of 3 hole ABs.

It won't change, but he better start playing 1b. His defense can not be much worse than Aguilar. I also think Grisham will be a better LF than Braun. It's not hard to do.

Would seem like Braun is going to be playing some 1B again.

I think it's Grandal going to 1B and Pina catching against tough lefties.

For his career, Ben Gamel hits

.273/.340/.748 vs LHP

Pina

.276/.348/.760 vs LHP

Grisham 2019

.299/.409/1.018 vs RHP

.303/.402/.989 vs LHP

I really don't see the need to push Pina into the lineup.
