Wow, Amir Garrett is going to get all of the suspension games. He tried to take on the whole Pirates dugout!

Once I'd just like a team to let a player take on another team by themselves just to see how fast they retreat when they realize they don't have backup.

But I thought DJ had the magic elixir to turn average pitching into awesome pitching? They shouldn't need to trade for guys like Bauer.

So instead of finishing last in the division, they might be better than the Pirates?

Hell, they might be better than the Brewers...

Bauer - Castillo - Gray is light years ahead of what we are throwing out there right now.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave

That may be light years ahead of anything we've thrown out in the last 30 years.

Gotta give it up to Puig for sticking up for the team he is currently not a member of but sill wearing the jersey of. Pirates started it by yelling at Garrett from the dugout, and Garrett went attack mode on the whole PIT team. David Bell came charging directly at Hurdle, ended up in a headlock by a Pirates player at the bottom of a pile. One of the wilder scenes I’ve seen.

Pretty good looking rotation for the Reds next year...

Yep. People knocking this is what I don’t get.

Taylor Trammell ranked between 10 to 30 on most top 100 prospect lists heading into the season. Unless they have more coming their way, it’s interesting that the Reds were willing to give him (and Puig) up for what will likely amount to one competitive season with Trevor Bauer.

My guess is that the Reds are not done yet for next season. I bet they make several more deals either at this deadline, or during the offseason that propel them into contention for the Central next year...

They might as well go all in since no one else seems to want it.

When did Doug Melvin take over as GM of the Reds?

Can Trevor Bauer hit? Because pitching isn't really a problem for the Reds and Bauer is overrated as well.

The Trade.

Indians get: Franmil Reyes, Logan Allen, Yasiel Puig, Victor Nova, Scott Moss.

Reds get: Trevor Bauer.

Padres get: Taylor Trammell.

Pretty great deal for Cleveland. Don't really understand it for the Padres unless they feel they're close on Syndergaard, Margot is included and they need a future replacement. Reds, just a rudderless ship.

Lots of time to find those pieces.

Puig is in a brawl right now, literally. Lol

Puig getting in a fight immediately after being traded is the most Yasiel Puig thing ever.

David Murphy, color analyst for the Texas Rangers: "Maybe they're happy they're getting rid of the quirky pitcher who threw the ball over the centerfield fence, but now they're getting the quirky right fielder who has been involved in plenty of brawls."

Nice deal for the Indians, exactly what they needed. Padres are the big losers here, Reyes is going to be a stud, they should have sent Renfroe instead. Reds are just kind of meh, they still aren't a playoff team next season and then they lose what they gained here. This is the ultimate poor timing move by them.

Franmil Reyes strikes me as a three years younger version of Domingo Santana. Granted, I have only watched him play a handful of times so maybe he’s better than that? I assume he might be a future DH in Cleveland.

Overall, I think the Reds got the shortest end of this trade.
