Wow. Allard, a former top-100 prospect who was in the majors at age 20, for a guy who at age 33 does not have a long track record.

 

FWIW, I think Allard was overrated and profiles at best as a back-end starter, but still that's a lot to give up for Martin IMO.

I would bet on Kolby Allard developing into a better player than either of the two pitchers the Blue Jays received in the Stroman trade. Even though he has struggled this year I think it’s a good enough get for a rental reliever.

It makes me kind of happy that some of these vaunted Braves pitching prospects are being exposed as overrated. Allard was supposed to be the next big thing, but he's stalled out. In fact, most of those young pitchers have stalled out, which is why the Braves are looking under every rock for both starting and relieving improvement.
