Another homer for Grisham

And another homer for Grisham

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Another homer for Grisham

And another homer for Grisham

And a run scoring single.......

Wow

And now a double. Grisham is making a mockery of AAA.

Wow

I'm pumped he's only our 6th best prospect right now according to some services...we must have 3 cy young winners and 2 HOF infielders stashed somewhere down on the farm. Pretty fortunate for the 30th ranked system!!

There is a major lack of recency bias in prospect ranking services - he is easily a top 25 prospect in all of baseball...Grisham is a monster right now and has always carried better peripherals than Hiura in terms of walk and k rates.

... waiting for the MLB Pipeline gospel people to come challenge that. I swear, it's almost like there's a few posters here that are taking joy out of the fact that Baseball America has the Brewers' system ranked last. Like they are seeing "See, I told you the system sucks! fIrE sTeArNs!

Guys hitting .381. I mean this is getting downright stupid.

I for one am stunned he is ranked so low by the scouting services. If he caught fire at 26 that would be one thing. If he was a low pick that would be another thing. This is a 1st round pick HS pick that is exploding into his long thought potential. He's doing exactly what Monte Harrison did.

Harrison is ranked 88th. Harrison was a 2nd round pick. Harrison is a full year (plus) older. Grisham is destroying a league where Harrison has 9 HR in 190 AB. Grisham has 13 in 134. He wins every batting peripheral cleanly.

Just doesn't add up.

Harrison broke out in 2017. He's a multi-tool prospect. It takes these ranking services a while to catch up.

The fact is the prospect shine dulled a bit on Grisham over the last few years. He has obviously rebuilt it, but I think he is probably up on the ML team before he makes any sort of Top 100 list.

Exactly. They have to cover 30 teams and thousands of prospects. So he's not rated in the top 100. That's fine. But people then use those rankings too often as gospel. What's everyone do when you hear about a trade for someone you don't know? You go to MLBPipeline or whatever site and see where they rank on their prospect lists.

It's a tool, it's not the absolute authority.

On top of that, I am 99.9% certain that these prospect lists don't come into play whatsoever in trade talks and deals within MLB front offices. Nor does the team's Baseball America farm ranking.

Glad to see Burnes throw 2 innings. He could be very important in either our rotation or pen in about 2 weeks. Heck, we could use him soon as part of a bullpenning strategy with us being short on starters

If you can't manage to cover 30 teams farm systems in this age of broadcasting and computers... then you are asking to be replaced. Do you have any idea how big the market is and how much money is there to be had? Sheesh!

I've long appreciated a certain amount of caution with helium in prospects, but there is no substantial reason I have seen anywhere for a guy with the high draft status, a very respectable age and the consistency of having broken out all year at 2 different levels not being more correctly viewed at the end of July by major services. I agree with the notion that if Harrison is still a top 100 prospect Grisham certainly is as well. I could live with him being slightly higher because of ability to play CF and other tools, but the bat difference is huge at this point, nearly 400 OPS points huge in the same league and because Harrison has missed time in a somewhat similar number of ABs

I feel like its always hard to regain top prospect status once you lose it.
