Are the Baby Brewer games attended by fans? I know he doesn't have the most dynamic stuff around, but any reports on how Suter threw the ball would be welcomed.

I’m curious if he throws it any harder like many coming back from TJ and the ensuing rehab

Via Jerry Briggs in San Antonio:

Sweet's vacation

Milwaukee Brewers field coordinator Charlie Greene will manage the Missions during the Sacramento series, and also for one game in the Fresno series, as Rick Sweet takes his mandated four-game vacation.

Greene is a former major league catcher who played parts of five seasons with four organizations, including the Brewers, through 2000.

Sweet said he's he'll be in Arizona with his family.

On his to do list? Go to dinner and to the movies with his wife. Walk his dog. Swim in his pool. Also, he said, he plans to work out with his son, a high school ball player.

Sweet is scheduled to return to manage the Missions on Saturday.

Another hot streak

The Missions have scored 39 runs on 52 hits during a four-game winning streak.

During the streak, Trent Grisham is 8 for 15 with four RBI. Hernan Perez is 7 for 17. Cory Spangenberg 6 for 15 (in three games) with seven RBI. David Freitas, back from paternity leave, is 6 for 10 in his last two.

Box: DSL Red Sox #2 Squad 7, DSL Brewers/Indians 2

Co-op team actually outhit the island Sox 6-5, but issued nine walks and plunked four batters. They led 2-1 after five innings.

Now, that being said, the only Brewer pitcher had a fine mound day, as 17-year-old rookie Venezuelan LHP Keiner Alfaro, in only his 3rd pro appearance, stranded two of three inherited runners and followed up with a scoreless inning.

Three Brewer batters had singles, and among them, 1B Francisco Gonzalez walked twice, and 3B Elian Gonzalez walked once. Born a month apart and in different towns, so not brothers, but check those links to compare their near-identical season stat lines (.710, .715 OPS).

Box: DSL Diamondbacks #2 Squad 4, DSL Brewers 1

1-0 D-Backs after eight innings, then the Snakes made it 4-0 in the 9th before the Crew barely avoided the shutout.

The Cerveceritos, now in a three-way tie for 2nd place in their division, two games back, placed eight men on base -- one double (LF Rafael Martinez), three singles, two walks, two HBP.

They struck out an obscene 19 times, four fanning three times apiece. No golden sombreros somehow.

On the mound, 16-year-old Brailin Rodriguez and 18-year-old Ariel Vega were excellent in this one.

Updates at mid-day from "And That":

Down 11-0 after four innings, Gold made it intersting

Blue also falls, but we see you, Brent Suter, still a defensive whiz:

AZL Royals Top of the 1st

Diego Hernandez bunt grounds out, pitcher Brent Suter to first baseman Kevin Hardin.

Herard Gonzalez lines out to second baseman Orveo Saint.

Bobby Witt Jr. strikes out swinging, catcher Alex Hall to first baseman Kevin Hardin.

Final: AZL Padres2 13, AZL Brewers Gold 11

AZL Brewers Gold Box Score

The Gold scored 11 of the games' final 13 runs and still lost anyway. Home runs from rehabbing Pablo Abreu and Francis Florentino (who also added a double).

Cam Robinson, Zach Vennaro, and Jose Parra pitched the final four innings and gave the offense a fighting chance, allowing no earned runs (with two unearned runs scoring). Parra's ERA is still 0.00, now through 20 2/3 innings pitched this year.
