Bettinger with the complete game. Really having a nice season.

Nice outing for Andrews in the second game: 2 perfect innings w/2 K's and drew a walk at the plate. Really intriguing prospect with the two way players popping up in a few places lately. Will have to continue to overcome being undersized - think it's more of an issue as a pitcher, though that could be minimized as a spot reliever.

One more day where we will not be updating until mid-day-to-late-afternoon. Hopefully back to a more regular schedule starting Saturday and going forward as "real life" interferes less.

Of course, the initial post here brings you to all the raw box score data. We'll fill in with the other peripherals, including any video and features we find, later on.

Thanks.

Final: DSL Brewers 10, DSL Rangers2 8

DSL Brewers Box Score

A dramatic two-out rally in the 9th inning extends the Brewers' winning streak to five and keeps them just a game out of first place in the San Pedro division. It also extends the teams' double-digit run streak to four games, which is probably much more impressive than the win streak itself. Man, it's nice to have a good DSL offense.

The top four hitters in the order - Eduarqui Fernandez, Sebastian Burciaga, Jhonnys Cabrera, and Alejandro Marte - each contributed two hits. Marte hit his fifth home run and has posted a gaudy 964 OPS/155 wRC+ in his third trip through the DSL. Erys Bautista launched his fourth home run. There have been years where four home runs would lead the team ***for the year***. Bautista is tied for third on the club, with Jesus Parra. I'd have to look it up, but I'm assuming this club will break the DSL Brewers' team record for home runs in a season, if they haven't already. And speaking of Parra, Jesus only got one hit, but it was a big one, driving in the go-ahead run in the ninth.

Brewers pitchers struggled, as evidenced by the 8 runs allowed. They issued another 12 walks, 7 of which can be hung on starter Wellington Nunez. Robert Ortiz made his 2019 debut - as is almost always the case in the DSL, if there was an injury issue here with Ortiz, we do not currently and probably never will know about it. Anyway, Ortiz walked 9 against 1 K in 10 innings last year; in Thursday's game, Ortiz pitched a scoreless inning, with no walks and one K. Well done. First-year pro Raymer Caridad has quietly had a pretty good year and picked up his third save.

Final: DSL Rangers1 7, DSL Brewers/Indians 5

DSL Brewers/Indians Box Score

The co-op team may never win again. Their ninth loss in a row was another of the late-collapse variety. Six of the seven Ranger runs were scored in the final three innings. Most of that was on Indians pitchers, though Brewers lefty Keiner Alfaro, making his second pro appearance, was responsible for the first two of those six runs. One of the bright spots of the club has been starting pitcher Yostin Villalobos, who on Thursday allowed just an unearned run in his five innings on the mound.

Vitor Watanabe and Jeicor Christian each singled twice.

Shuckers and Jumbo Shrimp Split Thursday Doubleheader

Biloxi Drops Night Cap After Strong Showing in Opener

By Andrew Chapman / Biloxi Shuckers

"Sparking another three-run frame, Weston Wilson hit a solo home run to leadoff the seventh inning and make it 4-1. The homer was the 14th of the season and his tenth against the Jumbo Shrimp."

Clearly the Marlins can't get a proper scouting report on Wilson.

Game two Jacksonville starter Kolton Mahoney was drafted by the Brewers in the 23rd round in 2014 out of BYU but didn't sign, despite my best efforts at Cape Cod League games to make that happen. He was drafted in the 16th round in 2015 by the Yankees, released in May 2017 by New York, and was quickly scooped up by Miami. Now 27, but having a nice season.

The Mudcats' portion:

The Mudcats said they were one of the first teams to upgrade their stadium in Zebulon to more modern safety standards back in 1998.

Their netting goes up 45 feet at its highest point behind home plate and that height extends to over the dugout.

In addition, the length of the netting running along the first- and third-base lines to the ends of both dugouts is about 115 feet.

We'll roll with that automated Associated Press bot summary for this road game:

Jess Williams hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning (AUDIO link), and Ernesto Martinez went 1 for 2 as the Rocky Mountain Vibes beat the Grand Junction Rockies 7-5 on Thursday.

The triple by Williams capped a three-run inning and gave the Vibes a 6-3 lead after Bryan Torres hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.

The Vibes tacked on another run in the seventh when Micah Bello scored on a sacrifice.

Grand Junction saw its comeback attempt come up short after Colin Simpson hit an RBI single, bringing home Cristopher Navarro in the ninth inning to cut the Rocky Mountain lead to 7-5.

Joel Pinto (3-0) got the win in relief while Blair Calvo (0-3) took the loss in the Pioneer League game.

Christian Koss homered and doubled, driving home two runs for the Rockies.
