From MLB Pipeline Twitter:

Make it 3 times! #Brewers No. 22 prospect Eduarqui Fernandez launched his 3rd homer of the game in the bottom of the 8th inning, becoming the first 17-year-old to homer three times in a @MiLB game since 2016.

That gives Fernandez 7 home runs. The Brewers have not had a DSL player hit more than 7 home runs in a season since re-establishing their academy in the Dominican in 2009. A handful of players have finished with exactly 7. There are 28 games remaining in the DSL regular season for Eduarqui to break the record.

Final: DSL Brewers 10, DSL Cardinals Red 9

DSL Brewers Box Score

As noted above, this was the Eduarqui Fernandez Game as the young slugger belted three home runs to lead the Brewers to victory (barely). Fernandez is the first 17-year-old to hit 3 home runs in a game in affiliated ball in 3 years and ties the modern-era DSL Brewers' record for home runs in a season with 7. His OPS shot up 73 points and his wRC+ went from a "meh" 85 to an even (and perfectly average) 100. Not easy to do in your 43rd game of the season.

Elsewhere in the lineup, Jesus Parra continued on with his insane July production by singling and doubling. He has a 1089 OPS in July, which is just slightly below Trent Grisham's, and more impressive considering the contrasting offensive environments between the DSL and the PCL. And Jesus doesn't even turn 17 until after the DSL season ends. He's gonna be a good one, ya'll.

Elsewhere elsewhere, Farlyn Manon hit his first long ball of the year as part of a two-hit day, while Jhonnys Cabrera and Alejandro Marte were each on base three times.

Starting pitcher Kleiber Bordones was great, hurling 5 scoreless innings, walking no one and striking out 8. His ERA on the year now stands at 1.94. Six other pitchers combined to give up 9 runs over the remaining 4 innings and made the game a little too close for comfort. Only 7 walks issued today, though, an improvement of 11 from the day before.

DSL Brewers Game Log

Eduarqui bombs, the last of which proved to be the deciding run:

DSL Brewers Bottom of the 5th

Eduarqui Fernandez homers (6) on a fly ball to left field.

Final: DSL Cubs1 13, DSL Brewers/Indians 4

DSL Brewers/Indians Box Score

7th loss in a row for the sputtering co-op club. Elian Gonzalez singled and doubled, Luis Valderrama returned to the lineup for the first time in 12 days and doubled, and Angel Bautista drew two walks to pair with a single. All of the runs were scored on three Brewers pitchers.

Final: AZL Dodgers Mota 6, AZL Brewers Blue 1

AZL Brewers Blue Box Score

It may surprise you to find this out, but a Brewers AZL team lost. The Blues did manage 8 hits, but they were all singled, and only walked once. Blue pitchers didn't walk anyone but did allow 12 hits, almost half of which were doubles.

San Antonio Pre-Game Media Notes

***

Box: San Antonio 4, Iowa 3

Zack Brown was back, and made just about his best start in what has been a forgettable season.

A walk-off fielder's choice for Trent Grisham, every kid's dream.

Making a stand against the Cubs

Coming into Tuesday night, the Missions held a 3-31 record this season in games they trailed entering the ninth.

Against the Cubs, they were down 3-1 after eight.

But in the end, facing reliever James Norwood (3-2), they manufactured a winning rally, sparked by a leadoff single from Nate Orf and a string of clutch plate appearances.

Trent Grisham ended it with a one-out ground ball that scored Jacob Nottingham from third.

Winning Streak Ends As Shuckers Are Shutout By Shrimp

Biloxi Threatens Late Before Rain Delay

By Andrew Chapman / Biloxi Shuckers

The fourth really good appearance from Drew Rasmussen in his last five outings, though the offense could do nothing against super-prospect Sixto Sanchez or the other three Shrimp pitchers.

Seriously, that is offensive to short pitchers.
