Box: DSL Rays #2 Squad 7, DSL Brewers/Indians 2

18-year-old 2nd-year-pro RHP Starling Javier (23 walks in 14.1 innings) only walked one here in a scoreless inning.

17-year-old rookie RHP Ronnald Rojas didn't fare as well, up to 25 walks and 8 HBP's in 11.1 innings.

The other pitchers were Indians' farmhands.

Two singles and four walks by Brewer hitters. Unfortunately, the 11-29 record is deserved.

Box: DSL Mets #2 Squad 8, DSL Brewers 7

Mets scored four in the 8th to take the lead.

Catcher Jhonnys Cabrera moved up to the 3rd spot in the lineup, singled twice, and drove in three.

Forget the 15 passed balls. Has thrown out 27 of 67 attempted basestealers (40%). Turned 17 years old last month. I'm smitten.

Box: Oklahoma City 11, San Antonio 3

Darn shame what one bad PCL start can do to an ERA, right Thomas Jankins? We know better, although this ball did go a long way.

Guessing Trent Grisham's exit was nothing more than the team being down 10-2 in the 7th.

Game summary isn't "online" yet, but here's the content:

CLOCK NEARS MIDNIGHT AS SHUCKERS TOP BAYBEARS ON FRIDAY

Longest Contest of Season Concludes With Seventh Straight Win

MOBILE, AL – After four hours and two minutes of baseball on Friday night at Hank Aaron Stadium, the Biloxi Shuckers (58-39, 17-10 2nd half) walked away with a 12-7 win over the Mobile BayBears (40-55, 13-14 2nd half) in game two of the four-game set. Four multi-run innings and sixteen total hits from the offense helped push Biloxi's winning streak to a season-best seven games.

The Shuckers never trailed during the contest and struck for three early runs in the first inning against Tyler Carpenter (L, 1-1). Corey Ray doubled to lead off the game and Luis Aviles Jr. followed with a bunt single in his first at bat since being reinstated from the injured list. After Patrick Leonard struck out, Dillon Thomas smashed a three-run home run to right field to give Biloxi an early 3-0 lead.

Cooper Hummel yanked a solo homer over the right field wall to begin the second inning, the first of four hits on the game for the switch hitter. Hummel led off the fourth with a single while Alexander Alvarez and Ray drew consecutive walks to load the bases and end the night for Carpenter. After Isaac Mattson inherited the bases full, Jake Gatewood drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, Leonard notched an RBI single and Thomas plated another with his own sac fly for a 7-0 lead.

Mobile responded with three straight doubles against Alec Bettinger to begin the fourth. Erick Salcedo drove in a pair with his two-bagger and with the bases loaded, Connor Justus was drilled in the back with a pitch to make it a 7-3 game. Bettinger was lifted in the fourth for Marcos Diplan (W, 2-4), who walked Jo Adell with the bases loaded to cut the lead to 7-4. Diplan worked into the sixth, allowing one run on one hit and three walks.

In the Shuckers sixth, Leonard sacrificed Bruce Caldwell home with a fly ball to right field that was dropped by Adell and allowed Leonard to reach second base. Thomas followed with a single to drive in Leonard, his fifth RBI of the game, and jump Biloxi to a 9-4 advantage.

With a comfortable 9-5 lead in the eighth the Shuckers strung together a two-out rally and hung another three spot on the board facing Joe Gatto. Gatewood doubled and Weston Wilson walked to put two on for C.J. Hinojosa, who tucked a double down the left-field line. Both runners scored while Hinojosa extended his hitting streak to a season high 12 games. Hummel followed in the next at bat with a single to score Hinojosa and cap the Shuckers tally with a 12-5 lead.

Cody Ponce gave up three straight hits in the eighth, including a two-run double to Jhoan Urena before tossing a scoreless ninth and working a 5-4-3 double play to end the game two minutes before the clock struck midnight.

The Shuckers continue their series with the BayBears on Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. The Shuckers will send RHP Dylan File (4-1, 3.58) to the mound and Mobile will throw RHP Luis Madero (4-7, 5.31). The game can be heard locally in Biloxi on Cruisin' WGCM AM 1240/100.9 FM, TuneIn Radio or the MiLB First Pitch App and can be seen on MiLB.TV. Fans can save $10 off their subscription when they use the promo code 'Shuckers' at checkout.

Don't read this every day --

"In the top of the eighth, Rafael Narea singled with one out. Marcus Mastrobuoni was at the plate when the wind kicked up and blew down a sign on the outfield wall sign in left-center field. The storm was bearing down on the stadium and the call was made to get the tarp on the field."

Box: Ogden 9, Rocky Mountain 5

Alternative box includes inning-by-inning linescore

It was knotted at 5-5 after five innings.

"Ogden is now an absurd 26-6, with six games left in the first half, and has won 21 of its last 23 games. The Raptors’ franchise best for wins in one half is 26."

Um, alrighty then...

Hey, remember when the Ogden Raptors were a Brewers' affiliate? Wikipedia does:

In 1996, the Raptors began an affiliation with the Milwaukee Brewers. Skipper Bernie Moncallo took over at the helm, and the club reached the league finals, where they lost to Helena. DH Miguel Rodriguez was an All-Star and tied for the league lead with 17 home runs. Moncallo's club did not make the postseason the following year, despite fine performances by catcher Bobby Darula, who hit .332, and pitcher Derek Lee, who posted a 3.89 ERA in 14 appearances.

Ed Sedar took over as the Raptors manager in 1998, and the club once again returned to the playoffs, getting swept by the Idaho Falls Braves in the first round. Frank Candela hit .311 and paced the circuit with 43 stolen bases, and closer Dan Mathews tied for the league lead with 16 saves. Under the leadership of Jon Pont and Sedar the next season, the club once again missed out on the playoffs, despite the performance of outfielder Cristian Guerrero, who hit .310 with 26 steals.

Sedar's team once again made the postseason in 2000, losing to the Idaho Falls Padres in the first round. Third baseman Daryl Clark hit .339 while clubbing 15 homers, and outfielder Dave Krynzel hit .359. Pitcher Justin Gordon went 5-5 and joined them as All-Stars. In 2001, the Raptors were led by third baseman Florian Villanueva, who hit .308, but the team slipped under .500. The next season, under new skipper Tim Blackwell, they returned to the playoffs, but fell to the Provo Angels. Outfielder Mario Mendez provided offensive spark for the club, stealing 20 bases.

Wow, good memories there, reaching back to Brewerfan's origin year in 2001. Derek Lee, Mayor of Huntsville!

Are you confused about the Helena team reference above?

In 2001 the Helena franchise moved to Provo, UT becoming the Provo Angels. Helena went without pro baseball for two years then in 2003 the Medicine Hat Blue Jays signed up with Milwaukee, moved into K.L. Field and resurrected the Brewers name.

No formal game summary, but here's the newspaper report from Ogden.

Four Vibes' with two-hit games, RHP Wuilder Rodriguez still has work to do before his return to higher levels, and 6th round LHP Nick Bennett with two scoreless innings late, so please head back to the box score link for your review.

Two more games on the wrong side of the ledger for the Maryvale squads, look for Toby's updates a bit later, he'll be chiming in within his Saturday AM errands, from grocery aisle three.

Two losses, but still some fun stat lines and names (we see you, Ethan Small -- Lane Grindle did, too)

My plug - going back to Australian Winter (their summer) Baseball, have been a big Alex Hall fan.

And my goodness, check out the strides Hall's made since last year in throwing out baserunners. Thanks, Charlie Greene!
