I can't believe that anyone can watch this team and say "Yeah, just a decent arm or two here and we'll turn this right around."

This team is in trouble. Roster management has stunk, they aren't getting lucky, I suspect the coaching is poor, and they've been getting their lunch handed to them for 6 weeks now from the worst teams in the league.

It's entirely possible that last year was an aberration. If you had to bet your house, would anyone really take the over on 84 wins right now?

If I was still single living in a slum lord’s paradise, I’d be all over that action. But man, I got a family...

Alright fellas, that wraps up the easy stretch of our schedule. 16 of the next 19 against winning teams. Good times.

LOL ... watch them go on a run now.

I hope they go on a run one way or another. I'd rather win, but I don't want to stand pat either.

I don't think they'll win 80. Not being crabby, I just really don't. I'd hate to see this pitching staff get tired. I think they'll finish 10 back of the Cubs. My rational side says it's still a tinge too early to sell, but I'm already interested in what that'll mean if they do it.

Of course this season is disappointing and probably will end up that way but jeez, the amount of babies I see is amazing. All I know is Stearns should act accordingly and get as much as he can for the 1-year players we have. If he doesn't, it will only continue to make it that much harder for us to acquire talent in the future. Our system is just not good enough to lean on for quality players in the future.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I don't feel too upset honestly just because I'm a Brewers fan. It was always in the back of my head this could happen this year. Even if you're optimistic you know how difficult it is to win consistently. It always feels like you're waiting for things to go wrong in a way I don't feel with the other teams I follow.

The Brewers had some career years last year and they did put the money in on the ability of the young 3 pitchers to take the next step which so far hasn't happened. The bullpen took a crushing blow with the injury to Knebel and never found that kind of replacement. CC has to change his mindset imo on how to use his starters longer especially when pitching well.

I will tell you to get a clue because you’re flat out wrong. If the Brewers flat out released Chacin and Albers after today’s game. Both would have new teams by Wednesday; so you either are impassioned and not seeing reality, or you’re ignorant on how things work

I guess these guys are ignorant and flat out wrong too, since they peg both Chacin and Albers at a value of -0.6 each, or in other words, worth less than nothing.

This isn't a really good comparison. You're talking about a trade vs. a waiver claim. I don't think you'd get more than potato chips for Chacin. But cutting him loose and only giving up a pretty small pile of cash, someone's going to do it.

But that aside low trade value != worthless.

I mean the reason some guys have negative value is because they're considered to be worth less than your contract. So by definition a waiver claim on a negative value player would be considered to be a bad deal by the site.

I'm not saying that its gospel and I'm not saying he definitely wouldn't be claimed. I'm just supporting the points that I made that were pretty thoroughly blasted.

I have been in that in between place since friday's loss. I would rather they go one way or another this week, I feel like this season may be a bust and I don't want them to waste a few prospects on relievers just to have us drop out by the end of August. I felt down a like this a few times last year but we were always still 10 games over .500 and at least were playing .500 ball in the couple of months before the deadlines. This feels different, I think we traded Greinke while still being somewhat alive for the playoffs, I have confidence Stearns will cut bait if he thinks it is a lost cause.

I really can't see them buying. I'd be shocked. They'd have done it by now.

Obviously most teams that are going to be buying haven’t made their moves yet. As they continue to play below .500 baseball it is hard to believe they will be in on any of the pricier half season rental type players at this point. Barring a total collapse of losing something like 10 of the next 14, I think they’ll make a very minor move or two. If they do add anyone of significance it will likely be a player under control beyond this year, but I agree it doesn’t seem overly likely a big splash is on the horizon right now.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

So I was unable to watch the game but looking at the box score and highlights, I can assume they pulled Chacin early enough to let the bullpen blow it? And why the crap was Burnes used in a non-blowout?

I totally agree that CC needs to change the way he handles the starters and bullpen. The bullpen is not nearly as strong this year as it was last year!

Anybody buying that Gio Gonzalez will change the trajectory of this team’s pitching?

Starters haven't been the problem. They've actually been getting pretty solid starting pitching the last couple weeks. The pen has been the Achilles heel.

That said, if Gio can come in and be Gio, it possibly moves Houser back to the pen, where he is sorely needed.

THIS! If we want to salvage this season Stearns has to find a couple of arms for that pen.
