Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes

***

Box: Wilmington 3, Carolina 2

Sort on innings, two Mudcats' pacing the Carolina League way. There's some randomness to this, as others get promoted in different organizations, but RHP Noah Zavolas stands out as an innings maven, as you'll read further below.

Hitting them where they are -- Brice Turang 1-for-22 (seven walks, only three K's) with Carolina.

Coming off Sunday's tough start, perhaps not the ideal timing for a "jinx" feature, but:

Final: AZL Brewers Blue 8, AZL Indians Red 4

AZL Brewers Blue Box Score

A 4-run 4th inning was the difference in an 8-4 Blue victory over the Indians. Kevin Hardin hit his second home run and walked twice, and Anderson Melendez singled and doubled to lead the offense. Hardin is slashing a robust .288/.393/.500 thru his first 60 pro PAs.

Alexis Ramirez started and allowed 2 runs in 3 2/3 innings. A trio of relievers did not allow an earned run the rest of the way, though they weren't super efficient in allowing 4 hits and 5 walks.

Final: AZL Rangers 9, AZL Brewers Gold 8

AZL Brewers Gold Box Score

The Golds took a 7-3 lead into the bottom of the 6th, but could not hold on for the win. On offense, Ashton McGee was a home run shy of the cycle, Matthew Mika doubled twice, walked, and hit a sac fly, while Felix Valerio singled twice and walked. Valerio now has 39 walks against 26 strikeouts as a pro.

The Rangers logged 18 hits and the Gold staff assisted with 4 walks allowed, so the pitching lines are not great.
