David Freitas with 2 doubles in AAA all-star game. First time watching him play, big, looks like a catcher. Maybe if he can get his ave up to.380, he can get a call-up.

Nottingham and Pina both on the 40-man, do both get called up in September (the final year with unlimited call-ups, correct?). Maintain Freitas on the 40-man all winter, then see what 2019 brings? (Indications are Freitas will be out of minor league options next year.) Or a bit of value as a throw-in trade piece this summer.

Here was Jay Jackson's brief outing -- Pacific Coast League was up 9-3 at the time.

INT All-Stars Top of the 9th

Pitching Change: Jay Jackson replaces Jimmie Sherfy.

Trayvon Robinson walks.

Aristides Aquino flies out to center fielder Ian Miller.

Pitching Change: Fernando Abad replaces Jay Jackson.

Dilson Herrera walks. Trayvon Robinson to 2nd.

Tomas Telis strikes out swinging.

Brent Rooker walks. Trayvon Robinson to 3rd. Dilson Herrera to 2nd.

Willi Castro flies out to right fielder Bubba Starling.

Box: DSL Pirates #1 Squad 11, DSL Brewers/Indians 5

9-25.

Best news - no Brewers pitched.

17-year-old rookie 2B/3B Angel Bautista walked four times, lifting his OBP to .322. The youngster still looking for an extra-base hit (17 singles).

18-year-old SS Alberis Ferrer doubled and walked, as we continue to have to dig deep for co-op positives.

Straight to the climax, down a run --

DSL Brewers Bottom of the 9th

Eduarqui Fernandez strikes out swinging.

Reidy Mercado hit by pitch.

Joneiker Ponce de Leon grounds out to first baseman Carlos Medrano. Reidy Mercado to 2nd.

Sebastian Burciaga hit by pitch.

Alejandro Marte homers (4) on a fly ball to left center field. Reidy Mercado scores. Sebastian Burciaga scores.

Three rookies on the mound, as starter Oscar Castaneda walked none in a solid five innings. Almost shocking to see Fernando Olguin struggle for the first time - it took nine pro appearances to do so.

Marte walked twice in addition to the game-winning blast. 17-year-old SS Joneiker Ponce de Leon lifted his average above .300 with three singles. Listed at 5'9", 150, 33 of his 36 hits have been of the one-base variety. Fill out as you grow, young men.

Base-on-ball maven Connor McVey (.219 average, but .373 OBP) was placed in the leadoff spot in Brice Turang's absence, but was 0-for-4 here.

RHP Adam Hill's line again reflected his very respectably solid, but not spectacular, 2019 work (he did net an All-Star nod).
