Don't you like it that Aaron Rodgers stays in Green Bay? Don't you like it like it that little ole' Green Bay (barely over 100,000 in population) can compete with New York, Chicago, and LA every year and sign and retain players on a lavel-playing-field with them?

Sure you do!

The NFL gets it!

I no longer watch the NFL

Hmmmmmm. Now if you said nba (which is basically the TMZ of sports leagues) that would be something I can get behind. I can espouse many reasons why that’s not a real sport

But you don’t watch the nfl because it has a salary cap?

No, but I will no longer go to games(cancel season tickets) and will make sure I let Mark A know how I feel. Enough of this panzy GM stuff. be more like Doug Melvin.

YEAH! Make the playoffs only twice and turn a long window into a much shorter one! MORE OF THAT!!!!!

In all seriousness, how long do you think our window is? Prior to this season I thought it was a relatively long period of time, but as of now I’m leaning more towards only like 2-3 more years (basically how ever long we have Yelich’s rights). Besides him, our best offensive players are Grandal, Moustakas, and maybe Gamel and Hiura. Two of those likely could be gone after this year. Pitching-wise we have Hader and Woodruff. Outside of that everyone else is either unproven, regressing, or on the decline. I’m not trying to sound grim, but just trying to point out that I believe that our window of opportunity isn’t very large anymore.

Good thing nobody cares about soccer. MLB competitive balance sucks. Small market teams have small margin of error compared to the large market. Small market teams can be competitive if they do almost everything right, but the success comes at a price of not being able to afford your top players. See KC , can't believe that people are okay with this. We will see how u feel when we have to move Yelich because we know that we can't afford him.

That has nothing to do with it at all. And let's keep politics out of the board, thanks.

Declining product quality. Lack of interest in player safety. Homogenized product. I've said before, a capped league where every team is more or less "the same" doesn't interest me all that much. NFL isn't all that interesting to me these days. I've watched about 5 Packers games total in the past 4 years.

One team has gotten key 2 out hits tonight to drive in runs......one has failed in numerous attempts ......

Solo homers aren't going to win many games.

But some will tell you this is the only way to play mlb baseball. Bill James pitched a tent in his pants watching the brewers tonight

The royals won the World Series way after analytics. To be honest they won despite analytics. That’s why I loved it. I kind of sick of a bunch of glorified slow pitch softball players like it is now

And aren’t the astros all guys they drafted because they tanked a million years

Yes, scorched earth tanking, but they didn’t hit on all their #1 draft picks. Lots of patience with great trades orchestrated by Luhnow, of course a little luck and a payroll over 160 million did the trick. The Astros were ahead of everybody else analytically, but not now. Things have changed massively in the last 4-5 years.

There’s a lot of moving parts of you have a cap though. Maybe you can’t resign Yelich because you signed a bunch of garbage before him and you are over the cap. It goes both ways. Or you spend so much on Yelich that you have a bunch of minimum salary dudes

What i would do in a perfect world is revenue sharing. But I get the Yankees point. We are a worldwide brand that tons of people care about so let’s give all our money to Milwaukee

Finally, the real issue comes to light. Pitching on this team can be fixed easier than this offense. 2 pen arms, Houser and or Chacin improvement, Gio a bonus. The offense........

Mlb: 162 games. 81 homes games.

NFL 16 games. 8 home games.

Big Markets are far outpacing revenue earned by small markets with all thoae games and tv revenue. NFL games are Nationally televised. How does baseball make that work in a given day? 9am, 1230, 4, 730, 11? 3games going at each time? 7days a week? I suppose the "Bye" days you can remove 2 games from 9am.

What are the Yankees supposed to do? Share 750million a season across to the small markets? Think about what you are asking. Calling this unfair. I'll take it for fact I even have a baseball team in my State to root for.

Want this fair? Contract to 20teams. Reduce season to 120games. More "Bye" days to nationally televise 3 game times with 3games going. 2 teamms off every day. That way its National TV money shared among all the teams vs local tv contracts.

Good thing nobody cares about soccer.

Nobody cares about the most popular sport in the world?

Even in the US, where "nobody cared" about it in the past.

Compare that trend with the meteoric decline of NASCAR, a sport that prided itself on it's parity, cost controls, and "fairness".

Alot of moving parts to a cap. NFL can do it ,look how strong that league is. Understand that the unions for both league's are totally different. Not asking for hand outs for small market, just give teams more of a chance to compete. How about not only have hard cap but also a minimum.

How about the idea when Yelich's contract comes up and u didn't have stupid contracts on the books and the Yankees come calling and offer 100 million more dollar's than we can . Love how that is fair.

I appreciate the fact that virtually every game thread is about our payroll. It's a discussion that we've brought up about 70 times out of just north of 80 games...

and-we-have-become-exceedingly-efficient-at-it.jpg

There are about 2 posters that make this a thing every single night, so I don't think you can blame the group as much as a couple individuals...

My spidey sense thinks the two posters are the same guy

Well, I’m sorry to inform you that your wrong, 2 separate humans.

The only poster that I’ve seen on this board that talks about the lack of payroll is me. Some talk about Stearns sitting on his butt, you know, blame Stearns. Not me, I’m the lone voice here that puts the blame where it belongs > Attanasio.

Hiura and Arcia both hurt after a nasty collision... well I guess this game could get worse after all.

Looks bad for Arcia, they are holding his neck and it appears his left shoulder may be injured.

Not just “at Night” anymore.
