Is 2020 Braun’s last year in Milwaukee?

No. They'll decline the option for 2021 and move forward, barring some huge resurgence next year. He'll still be here a year and a half, enjoy it. It will be time to move on. It already would be if we weren't stuck in the contract and/or had any better options.

That 2021 option obviously gets declined by the Brewers and it really should be after this season. Braun is done being a regular everyday starter. He is at best right now a platoon 4th OF bat who should be a DH.

I doubt they'd bring him back as well. Hopefully he calls it quits then instead of playing another season or two for another team. It'd be nice to see him be a career Brewer.

I think he will. He said several times how he really wanted to spend his entire career with one team and Lord knows he won’t need the money. The guy is loaded and has a family now, no reason to stay.

Like most things, health and productivity will be the determining factors with this. Either for the Brewers or him playing elsewhere.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

It seems like both this year and last he's hit the ball better than his stats reflect. Haven't looked into it this year, but last year he definitely hit into poor luck.

That said, I could see him wanting to come back to finish his career with the Brewers. The Dodgers will have no need for him, the Angles may not have use for him(especially if they're gonna use Ohtani at DH).

So not a lot of options to "go home" so to speak. So maybe he sticks around to finish off his career with the same team. At probably 35 pct of his current salary.

He still hits the ball hard but his plate discipline has been falling apart for years now as is his defense and foot speed. He hasn't even had any real injury concerns this season other than just his normal extra rest. He just hasn't been a very good corner outfielder.

I think he finish his deal and will retire a Brewer

his option year is 15MM. yes it would be nice for him to finish his career as a brewer, but unless he wants to negotiate a contract more in line with production, I don't see it.

Braun's option will definitely not be picked up so next year will be his last. As a starting LF this year he's posting a 287/338/816 line and people think he's a backup OF or should just quit? Interesting takes. He had a 10 game stretch in mid-April where he rolled over on everything and looked terrible going 3-34 over that span but even if you factor in his pinch hitting/DH work he's hitting 296 outside of that mid-April stretch. His plate discpline, as someone mentioned above, is noticeably declining but he's plenty productive.

I don't see him as being a ring chaser. I think he calls it a career after 14yrs with one team, collects his buy out and 18M deferred during retirement spending his time with his family while maybe being an analyst given he's smart/articulate.

I’d say the odds are over 75% not only is he not going to be here...but retired. I don’t think his opinion will change much from what it was when he could be traded. Probably would only go to an LA team to play. He has kids now, more money than he has said he needs, and is old. I think he would have to be pretty flexible to find a job since he is pretty bad defensively and his stats just aren’t that good. Not to mention pretty constant nagging injuries/problems over the years. It isn’t that I don’t think he could find a job, more I just don’t think he will find one that is the perfect fit to keep playing. He is essentially limited to a team in the AL because he isn’t really starter quality anymore and no one is carrying a bench OFer who can only play LF. I doubt he is about the minimal salary he would get and how many AL teams that will be contending want a .750 OPS DH bat with an injury history?

I think it would be pretty cool if he just announced before next season he planned to retire since so many Milwaukee fans adore him.

Can we stop we the Braun should be a 1B/DH? He barely hits enough to play corner OF. He hasn't hit well enough for 1B/DH since 2016 and even then he would only have been a decent not great player there.

That said if he wants he likely could easily get 3-5 million in 2021 to be a 4th OFer or a starter on a team with a hole.

He doesn’t hit well enough for a 1B, unless it’s on the Brewers. Our 1B duo isn’t really lighting it up this year, although it’s not nearly as awful now than it was not that long ago.

Or at least no injury concerns that we were aware of........until today

Braun should be a 1B/DH because defensively that is where he should be playing.

So play the final series a man down because...I have no idea why. IL Braun and bring someone else up.
