The brewers are absolutely desperate for a starter and keep flailing at it hoping something sticks.

If MKE saw him as a starter you think he would have been given a chance ahead of signing Gio and trotting out Nelson. He beat Wilkerson and Jankins to it. That's not a qualification, that's a prayer.

Houser painting the corners with 2 seam and 4 seam curves and sliders, tires in the 6th because he’s not stretched YET, and you are calling him a failed starter?

He’s 2+ years past TJ, the crew protected him by bullpenning him and limiting his innings. Hes not a failed starter.

Thank God the brewers know where to put him > Rotation

Let me guess. Houser is the 7th Ace?

Didn’t call him an Ace. Mid-rotation or better is what I said. And a lot of people outside of this site agree. Scouts and the crew brain trust being a few.

He’s not goin anywhere, he’ll be in the rotation moving forward.

Can you provide any sources to these scouts? If you do a quick good search on him, many articles written even in the last week questioning why the Brewers would make this move as he was doing well in the pen.

"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

That’s your opinion, the brewers believe otherwise.

I mean this could be the response to literally anything the Brewers do that someone doesn't agree with (e.g. Hiura/Shaw)

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

His stuff isn't good enough beyond the FB CB. It plays in the pen so leave him there.

This year his slider runs above average per 100 pitches is -1.08 and for his changeup it is 0.09. His stuff beyond the FB CB is plenty good enough.

Btw. What the hell is going on with gio. I thought his arm was just tired

I've been wondering the same...could actually really use the gio they got for the first handful of starts he gave them

Also, not sure if I like a 2 inning save attempt by hader here...hope he can get it done

And as I hit submit...cue the routine flyball that leaves to center....sheesh

Yeah not sure why we are doing it. Easy to question after a homer but it didn’t seem necessary today.

Brewers' Gio Gonzalez: Won't return before All-Star break

June 26, 2019 6:10 PM ET | by RotoWire Staff

Gonzalez (arm) will not return before the All-Star break, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Gonzalez felt some soreness during his most recent bullpen session, prompting the Brewers to adjust his throwing program. A new return timetable for the southpaw has yet to emerge.

It's only a 2 inning save attempt if the Brewers don't tack on at the top of the 9th. I gotta think if it was 8 or 9 to 3, Hader would be in for one only.

When was the last Brewer to hit 2HRs in one inning?

Dave Nilsson in '96

Thanks - it was only partially rhetorical, but looks like our favorite Aussie still holds the title!

He is actually the only Brewer to do it. The list is very small for this about 50 or so times this has happened in MLB so if it does happen you are basically watching history as it is not all that common. In fact one of the rarest was in 2002 when Bret Boone and Mike Cameron hit back to back HR's in an inning twice. That has never happened previously or since.
