2019-07-01: Brewers (Houser) at Reds (Mahle) [Brewers win, 8-6 -- After just one hit through 6 innings the Brewers bat around in a 5-run 7th inning]

Im probably the only guy who doesn't get too worked about a lineup. When you come up do your job

But....

Stop with the pitcher 8th.

Again, there's nothing wrong with the strategy. History and analytics have shown this. Counsell isn't just trying to be cute.

I don’t even know how you measure this. I’m very skeptical of “history and analytics” regarding this. There are a billion moving parts. I understand the theory though Plus it makes you make a decision one batter early whether to keep him in or pinch hit

Just bat your .094 hitter ninth and quit being cute

Lots of people do know how to measure it...or say they do and think they do. It makes sense to me to bat a high OBP and high SLG guy 2nd (Yelich). Once he is in place it makes sense to put the pitcher 8th. For as many times it is annoying that the pitcher bats 8th and ends the inning, the same number of times that will actually be beneficial since he won't be leading off the next inning, which gives a decent hitter the chance to get on base in front of Yelich. No stats nor history nor analytics. Just common sense.

Like I said. I get the theory

But very skeptical that history and analytics have proven this

I would leave it as a thought out theory and not a proven better way to score runs

So Josh Bell is off to a good start tonight for the Buccos...

Cubs rookie pitcher Adbert Alzolay getting lit up apparently, 8 hits and 7 earned runs allowed through the first 1.2 innings pitched.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

For those wanting to see Freitas take over for Pina...let Saladino be exhibit A why AAA numbers dont necessarily mean squat.

Freitas could hit better THIS year than Pina with a patch over one eye.

Doubt it.

Edit: Freitas last year had a 589 ops. Pina this year is 587. Coupled with some hard hit rates for Pina and above average catching...Pina remains the better option, no matter how Frietas is hitting in AAA.

And may there never be an exhibit B that starts with H and ends with A.

Stearns values the Organizational depth too much, so probably won’t be seeing Freitas anytime soon. This team needs an offensive shake-up, Freitas, Dubon, Grisham, take your pick.

None of those guys are going to make that much of a difference. You want an offensive shake up?? Go get a bat in a trade..a BIG bat.

Oh I see it’s a contest of who can underachieve the most and get their respective coach fired first. My money is on the hitting currently. At least hook can say there just isn’t much talent With the pitching
