And that's a 4th HR for Grisham at AAA. 10 HRs in June. 14k. 25 BB/IBB.

Makes Monte Harrison's explosion in 2017 look average.

Harrison was a consensus top 75 prospect at that point, #48 IIRC on Baseball America.

Grisham is 2 years old...but Harrison was at low A and then HiA. So that makes up for the age.

Harrison hit for a higher average but lower OBP.

I'd like to see Grisham with a higher BA, but power and walks work fine for me.

So does he get the same level of respect as a guy who was 6'3 and a recruit to NeBraska as a WR'er? Does he get more as he's more productive at a higher level....at least up until now?

I suppose that's really not that important, but when you see a guy built like a...well, an NFL LB'er, it's probably a bit easier to envision his success. Speaking of which, Monte is having a big year down in AAA for the Marlins farm club.

Yeah Harrison finished his break out in A+ at 21. Reference has him at .3 and 1.6 young for the levels.

Grisham 1.7 and 4.3 young for AA and AAA.

Higher OBP by 25 points. Higher OPS by 70 points and 5 HRs away from hitting the same total.

21 2 Teams 2 Lgs A+-A MIL 122 513 453 73 123 28 2 21 67 27 4 43 139 .272 .350 .481 .832 218

22 2 Teams 2 Lgs AA-AAAMIL 69 313 260 40 67 16 3 16 48 7 4 49 57 .258 . 375 .527 .902 137

On pace to smash those numbers, outpacing Harrison this year in everything but SB. While being a year younger. Both HS kids. Grisham drafted higher than Harrison.

When a top 15 pick explodes... he's gotta get in the top 100 doesn't he?

On the mound, rookie 6'4" 19-year-old Dominican RHP Raymer Caridad's 7th pro appearance was his finest and netted him his first pro win with three scoreless.

A reminder that Venezuelan catcher Jhonnys Cabrera only turned 17 years old this month. He doubled, singled, and walked in this one. The double was his first extra-base hit, but just the fact he's been trusted to catch the staff 15 times thus far is encouraging.

Tied Game Slips Late As Shuckers Fall in Pensacola

Navarreto Plates Four to Force Series Rubber-Match

Read the full summary, but the two key takes:

While knotted at three, Daniel Brown entered from the bullpen at the start of the seventh and retired four in a row before turning the ball over to Marcos Diplan with one out in the eighth. Diplan (L,1-4) worked Jimmy Kerrigan for a fly out but then gave up a pair of two-out walks to Joe Cronin and Aaron Whitefield. Navarreto faced a two-strike count and ripped a two-run double past the reach of third and into the left-field corner. Cronin and Whitefield both scored to make it a 5-3 game and give Navarreto four RBI on the night.

The big fly marked the second outing in a row with multiple home runs allowed by Trey Supak.

Rattlers Top Kernels 4-2 to Take Series

Wisconsin wins three of four from first-half Western Division Wild Card

By Chris Mehring / Wisconsin Timber Rattlers

Speaking of always excellent game summaries...

T-Rats 6-2 to open the 2nd half.

Move a box score line decimal point over, and the reliever ERA's (the pen has been excellent overall) look a lot like the batting averages in the lower portion of the lineup (they've struggled overall, but with some peripheral hope for future success, and they really contributed here).

LHP Blake Lillis hasn't pitched since his lone outing, a start on June 16th.

4th round catcher Nick Kahle hasn't played since this during his debut on the 15th --

Kahle cruised into 2nd base awkwardly, but would walk it off with the trainer and remain on the basepaths. He did not come out on defense in the bottom of the inning, however.

AZL Padres 1 Top of the 2nd

Unfortunately, recently-turned 19-year-old Dominican RHP Jhoan Cruz did not find the same success when he followed Kelly to the mound. Cruz posted a 0.96 WHIP in the DSL as a rookie last year, and found himself stateside this spring as a reward. Tough going in his three outings thus far.

Season and stateside debut for another 2nd year pro following a similar path as Cruz in RHP Leoner Colina.

RHP Dylan Prohoroff, discussed in some detail in our Transaction Thread this week, made his Brewer organization debut with a 1-2-3 inning.

***

Seventeen K's for the offense, although Aussie catcher Alex Hall tripled and doubled, and fellow backstop Caleb Marquez (2018, 39th round) had the finest of his 22 pro games thus far - the Missouri high school pick homered, doubled, walked as the DH.

This is not a duplicate post, different Padres team, different Brewers team, but one pitching outing affects the game similarly to the post above.

Box: AZL Padres #2 Squad 12, AZL Brewers Gold 3

After apparent rehab RHP's Joey Matulovich and Wuilder Rodriguez tossed scoreless single innings, 3rd-year-pro and 2nd-year-Maryvale RHP Brayan Salaya had a not-so-very-good-night. Four hurlers followed with various levels of short-stint success.

***

27th round OF Zane Zurbrugg has been idle for eight days now, after this on the 20th:

AZL Brewers Gold Top of the 7th

Zane Zurbrugg grounds out, shortstop CJ Abrams to first baseman Chris Givin. Oswel Leones scores.

AZL Padres 1 Bottom of the 7th

Defensive Substitution: Abimael Gonzalez replaces center fielder Zane Zurbrugg, batting 2nd, playing right field.

***

35th round second baseman Odrick Pitre will laugh about his platinum sombrero when he makes his Miller Park debut.

19-year-old 3rd-year Dominican infielder Victor Maria had a three-hit game for the second time in six contests.

18-year-old 2nd-year switch-hitting Venezuelan SS Daniel Castillo singled twice and walked.
