Hate Braun not playing. Been swinging it well lately and well, Cain, has not.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

Braun needs the maintenance, even if he's the best option. I imagine Cain is still dealing with that thumb a bit, at the very least it's probably sore from the injections still. I'll be curious how he looks after the all-star break. I imagine it will be better before then, but he'll also be able to give his body a rest.

Grandal

Yelich

Moose

Cain

Thames

Hiura

Gamel

P

Saladino

If only they switched Cain and Hiura...that would be some lineup. Still looks really good, let's put up double digit runs today.....

My thought when I read it. WT... are they doing with Cain in the 4 and Hiura in the 6.

So let's hit him clean up!

Wilkerson is trash so hopefully Chacín figures it out.

And Braun is 2-11 against Archer with no XBH. Probably figured if they were going to give him a day off at some point in the next 3 games might as well be today.

Ps Cain with 1.100 ops vs Archer in his career

I'm not sure Wilkerson is trash as much as he's off kilter. He's done a really solid job when he was promoted into a stint, but the longer he was kept up but not in a starters role he's fallen apart. He really hasn't been given a chance to do what he's succeeded at in the minors.

With the situation the team is in I'd like to see what happened if you kept him on schedule and let him start every 5. He's not impressive but he could put up 4 era ball.

He's only been giving 3 starts. He's pitched 14.1 IP in them allowing 6 ER for a 3.77 era. Sample size obviously but 9.42 out of the pen is a pretty stark contrast.

This would have been a great time to roster Grisham and play him some while Cain gets time to rest and heal up on the IL.

Thames isn't fantastic, but he hits RH pitching really well. With the way Aguilar has played this year I'm awfully glad we hung onto Eric.

Yes

I was actually surprised he even made the team at the beginning of the season. But they needed him after the Aguilar situation

If the hamels injury is serious at all they could have a rotation of Lester, Quintana, darvish, chatwood and Montgomery. Could be a good a chance to get the division lead back if the Brewers can get right
