Villar trade revisited.

Jopal78

I just noted Cy Sneed was just called up and joined the Houston rotation. He went 6 innings in his debut, allowing four runs, on seven hits with 4 strikeouts.

While the cost to acquire Villar seemed like nothing at the time. It’s too bad if Sneed establishes himself as a big league starter and the Brewers don’t have anything to show for the trade just a few years after.

Had Schoop performed last summer like he has with the twins this year, this wouldn't even be worth mentioning, because he never would have been released last winter and the brewers would have another righty bat to play 2nd and ss this season. Plus, the brewers got villar for his solid 2016 season - giving up snead for what they got out of villar while with the brewers is fine, it's the trade that returned schoop that is disappointing because schoop just didn't perform while with the brewers.

Happiest that villar didn't take that extension after 2016, actually..

If Schoop performs last year he doesnt get non-tendered and we dont resign moose, so....

Yeah, I'm not sure that even if Schoop had performed like he has this year that he wouldn't have gotten non-tendered. We'd still be looking at a guy who's OBP is ~.300.

Moose has been amazing for us this year. He's having a career year at 30. I actually thought he was a couple years older as well. I wasn't a huge fan of that signing at the time, but we'd be in big trouble without it.

One Great season and kudos to him for that....

Worst baseruner in the history of the franchise.

I think that Gomez might have something to say about that title.

Both were horrible on the bases, that can't be denied.

Sadly this goes to Villar and it isn't even close. Dumbest player in baseball history from a basic game theory stand point.

But does Villar take his hacks on a 2-0 count?
