Free Mauricio Dubon Thread

What’s this guy gotta do to get a shot? He’s got to be getting restless in AAA knowing that he’s been passed up by Hiura and now a longtime scrub like Tyler Saladino gets the call instead of him? Wouldn’t be surprised if his agent called Stearns demanding a trade!

He’s 24. He’s no young buck. Let the kids play!

Saladino deserved a promotion as well. With the way that entire SA lineup has hit this year I'll be surprised if Shaw can't OPS near 1.000 in the next few weeks.

I too await the Dubon Era, but in terms of cycling up utility guys from AAA right now, it's not as if Saladino hasn't earned the first look. He's been smoking it all season, .288/.375/.568.

A guy like Saladino should be happy he’s on a 40-man roster with a possible September call up.

Are you benching Arcia or Hiura both of whom are younger than Dubon making your let the kids play sentence weird.

Enough AB’s for them all.

At minimum one is going to be on the bench every day. That's #notideal.

I didn't realize Dubon was only two weeks older than Arcia. Thought Dubon was at least a year older.

Option Arcia to AAA, audition Dubon.

Maybe he’s a near .300 hitter in the big leagues, with steady if unspectacular D.

I don’t think Arcia deserves to be sent down. Proven defense, still 24, bat has been okay... most season siting around .700 OPS. Has his highest BB% of career (8%) only Ks 20%

I personally think it’s a really dumb idea to just send down guys playing solid baseball to see what a prospect (who is same age) can do. Maybe if you are the O’s & desperate to find any hope at all but not on a contending team. This isn’t The Show 19’ franchise mode. It’s reality.

Love to see Dubon get a look and some ABs but not by sending down Arcia or Hiura to do so. Let him have Perez’s utility role. Not as many at bats but gets feet wet.

I won't. He didn't out perform Saladino Spangs (after a slow start) Orf Dubon or Hiura yet we let him drag us down for another couple weeks.

I like Dubon a lot but unless Hiura can play 1st vs LHP there is zero reason.

Before someone chimes in ... I know he can't.

Your probably right, but it sure would be nice to see if he can help us score more runs.

Saladino's more versatile and has experience not playing every day. I'm interested in Dubon as well, but there's no good spot for him. Worth a September call-up for sure. Get him some reps at 3B in spring training and he should be on the opening day roster next year.

Unless Dubon profiles as a utility player; he doesn’t have a role on this team as Arcia and Hiura are likely everyday players going forward. I expect Dubon to be shipped out in another month for a relief arm
