Final: DSL Brewers 7, DSL D-Backs2 6

DSL Brewers Box Score

Walkoff! A hot Erys Bautista launched a home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth, capping a three-hit afternoon and sent the DSL Crew to victory. Despite a meager .205 batting average, the switch-hitting Bautista is hitting .308 in his last ten games and has home runs in two of his last three games. Here is BA's scouting report on Bautista from last year:

Erys Bautista is a 17-year-old Dominican outfielder who trained in the same program as Fernandez and signed for $500,000 on July 2. He's 6 feet, 240 pounds, built like Mets' first baseman Dominic Smith, with all of his value tied into what he does at the plate. He's a switch-hitter with advanced power from both sides, and while he can get pull-conscious at times, he's not a free-swinger, showing some feel for translating that power in games. With below-average speed and arm strength, Bautista has enough mobility for now to play left field, but he might end up at first base.

Speaking of slow starts, Sebastian Burciaga started his pro career 0-19 but has hit .361 since then, including three hits in 5 ABs on Wednesday. Despite a compact 5'7 frame, the 17-year-old Mexican has shown the ability to get balls into gaps (3 doubles and a triple), steal some bases (5 SB, no CS), and show bat-to-ball skill (only 2 Ks in 59 PA).

Speaking of recent signees out of Mexico, Oscar Castaneda and Fernando Olguin combined to pitch an effective first seven innings, allowing 4 earned runs. Olguin was charged with one of the earned runs, which is his first allowed as a pro, spanning 13 innings. Junior Montero finished the game out with 2 scoreless innings.

Final: DSL Red Sox2 16, DSL Brewers/Indians 1

DSL Brewers/Indians Box Score

This was the second 15 run loss in three days for the co-op team, in what is turning into another ugly season. Alberis Ferrer, who quietly had a very nice 2018, has had trouble staying on the field this year but was on base three times with a single and two walks. Angel Bautista and Bryan Nino both singled and walked.

Ronnald Rojas pitched one inning and allowed 5 runs; Francis Casado sort of redeemed the Brewers pitching contingent by allowing one run over two innings.

DSL Brewers/Indians Game Log

Apparently Ashby is not going to shut everyone out. Still, for his first "bad" start in Carolina after two games where he went 14 1/3 with just 5 hits and 16 K's, he gave up just 1 run through 5 before running into trouble. Still, not exactly a terrible game line.

Cody Ponce somehow blew a save in 1.1 IP despite not giving up a hit, but walking 1 and hitting another.

Trent Grisham reaches base in 5 PA's with 3 hits and a BB and is looking more and more like a perfect candidate to take over for Braun after 2020..unless he forces his way into the lineup sooner. He's now making Keston's .330 1.088 OPS look mundane with his .350 1.380 OPS.

Hiura did get a hit, but also took the old golden sombreo with 4 K's.

Burnes with 2 clean innings and 2 K's.

AZL Brewers Blue Box Score

Anderson Melendez and Orveo Saint accounted for 4 of the five hits. No Blue pitcher has more strike outs than walks.

Final: AZL Angels 3, AZL Brewers Gold 2

AZL Brewers Gold Box Score

The Gold pitching staff held the Angels to three hits, but the offense manages only three as well and couldn't push an earned run across and fell 3-2 to the Angels. The hits came from Felix Valerio (2-4) and Ashton McGee (1-4, 2B). Peyton Long made his first career start and pitched well, allowing a run on two hits and a walk over 5 innings, striking out three.

AZL Brewers Gold Game Log
