Please excuse me while I beat a dead horse for a moment...

This is exactly the type of night where having Hiura’s right-handed power bat in the lineup, even somewhere in the #5-#7 spots, would be very helpful. LHP Wade LeBlanc went 5 innings, and now they are going to face the Mariners closer, LHP Roenis Elías for 2 innings. The bottom half of the Brewers order isn’t intimidating whatsoever and they only have lefty hitters on the bench.

I fear opponents are going to continue adjusting their staffs to trot out every lefty they can find as long as the Brewers keep up with this odd roster construction. I may not have agreed with every roster move this team has made over the last couple years, but most can be easily explained. Keeping Hiura in the minors simply cannot.

It's all about placating Shaw.

The blind loyalty to a guy who was good the past two years is sickening. I don't think anyone wants to give up on Shaw entirely, but he needs to go down to AAA, figure some things out, and then and only then should he be allowed to come back up. I highly doubt Shaw's career is over, but he does need to figure things out, and the stubbornness that DS and company are showing in this particular situation is maddening.

In the words of Capt John Smith of Titanic the ship be sinking.

Can there be any more lame of a name than captain John Smith?

No offense to any johns or smiths in the audience

I once worked with a Richard Wacker.

You really have to hate your kids to do that.

Well that’s definitely not lame

Can we stop with the argument that this is just a bump. After starting the season 8-2, the Brewers have gone 34-36 in their next 70 games with a run differential of -10. This is almost half a season of decidedly mediocre baseball that is trending toward the negative while playing some of the worst teams in MLB.

Trying to salvage a game in a series after losing the first two series after series is notbthe sigh of a playoff contender.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The shame of this collapse is the Cubs are still in neutral and so are the Cards. Brewers with component roster management and a couple of decent arms could be putting some distance between themselves.

This is foolish talk. We are right in the middle of the race. No need to pull away.

This statement is what's wrong with the Brewers front office. This must be a David Stearns burner account. No worries here. We are just fine. We are the WILDCARD!! This team is in trouble and anyone who says otherwise is just being a fan. no offense to fans but fans tend to bend towards fandom. I tend to bend towards reality.

Do the Brewers have any 9th Inning come-from-behind wins this year?

March 31st

That was one of the wins that make up my astounding 8-0 record for the season for games attended.

I would also like to add this:

If you can't start Aguilar against a lefty, good heavens, just go ahead and trade or DFA the man already. He's useless if he can't be used against LHP.

Potential moves:

Hiura up, Shaw down (duh)

Cain to IL, promote Dubon

DFA/trade Aguilar.

DFA Tyrone Taylor. Purchase contract of Trent Grisham and promote to 25 man roster (don't freak out, just until Cain comes off the DL, let's give him a cup of coffee, he's earned it. He's going to have to be added in the offseason anyway).

You don't see that very often. Yelich swing it back-to-back pictures out of the zone.

This has to be Yelich’s worst stretch of 4 games since before the All Star break last year. Not only has he had just one hit, but most of his ABs have been K’s or rolled over grounders to the right side.

The last couple of games gives you a freighting look at this team with a mortal Yelich. This team is so drab when he isn't playing like Mickey Mantle in his heh day. Reality is the only reason this team is still relevant is his greatness.

Well if there ever was a perfect name for a brewers pitching prospect

Says the guy with 1300+ posts in 1.5 years on an internet sports fan message board :tongue

There are a lot of trolls here. I agree that Hiura should be playing. Other than that, I don't have any problems with our roster management. As far as having to use Thames, that's because Cain was out.

Cubs fans must be echoing this right now too. IMO we are damn lucky the rest of the division is slumping or we'd be in real trouble. This cannot continue the rest of the season even tho it feels like we'll never win another game. This offense shouldn't be struggling to score. It isn't helping that our best player can't find a hit in 2 games for the first time this season either. :(

Is it really just Shaw tho? Last year Aguilar was an All-Star and now he's a liability who has no clue what he doing at the plate. Cain's hand is killing him so he can't hit either. Hopefully the treatment he received in CA will help. All of these hitting issues must be contagious because even Yelich is striking out lately.

Our starting pitching is a mess right now. We were counting on Peralta, Burnes and eventually Nelson to be in the rotation but all 3 of them lost their starting jobs and are now in the pen. Chacin isn't the same guy as last year and Davies has looked bad the past couple of outings. Anderson has been no better. The only guy worth a damn right now is Woody.

Yes, Shaw is struggling but the issues go much deeper than just one player. :(

but Shaw has options left, he can go down and it won't hurt us, in fact, replacing him with Hiura will only make us better.

There is nothing we can do about Jesus but either dump him, trade him, or live with his uselessness.

I agree, Shaw should be replaced by Hiura and sent down to AAA to figure out what is wrong with him right now. I can't see anyone trading for Jesus so our options there are pretty darn limited. :(
