2019-06-26: Mariners (Carasiti) at Brewers (Houser) [Brewers lose, 4-2]

Got to love the Lepay Logic.......don't worry because the rest of the division is playing crappy too.

How about we just want to watch good baseball again Matt?

That mindset is common. Everyone else is underperforming too so we are only a game out. Nevermind the fact that the team is playing terribly every series and they are constantly down big early on. Don’t worry about it... everything is right where it needs to be.

I'm so glad that the ownership decided we didn't need to pursue any additional FA pitching this year because it was more important to maintain their profit margin! I am also comforted that our 4th round pick, who may one day turn into a DH in the American League, was spared instead of signing Kimbrel or Keuchel.

It's like some kind of reverse curse from last year where the Brewers scored in the first inning an inordinate number of times.

This year they bleed multiple runs in the first inning way too often

They just aren’t very good. This is going to be one of those years where the only thing you do is check the box score to see if Yelich is going to break some team records, etc

It seems like a ridiculous amount of triples given up lately.

Especially since the MLB average is about one triple per day (across all MLB games). Seems like the Brewers have given up far more than their share.

I've noticed that as well. Vogt had 2 against the crew even!

So I undersold it a little bit, but triples are currently on pace for an all-time low total this season. There are 0.15 triples per MLB game, so just slightly better than one triple in every seven games played. The Brewers have allowed the third most triples in MLB this season at 18. That is tied with Arizona and behind only Colorado and Detroit who have each allowed 20.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Going back through the Giants series, the Brewers have surrendered 10 triples including tonight's leadoff. I knew it seemed like a lot but that's nuts.

Not to mention that the Cubs have been losing games to the likes of the Rockies, Dodgers, and Braves while the Brewers have been losing to the Marlins, Giants, Padres, Reds, and Mariners.

Looking at the schedule one might have thought this would have been a chance for the Brewers to gain some ground, but instead they are falling back with no sign of the pitching stabilizing.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Why would we think Houser would be a good starter? Nothing in his minor league career really indicates it. Just put Burnes and Peralta back in there and build towards the future. This is just silly. Fire Hook already.
"This is a very simple game. You throw the ball, you catch the ball, you hit the ball. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it rains." Think about that for a while.

I think a lot of his struggles tonight we're mechanics.

No follow-through and way to vertical while almost falling off the mountain to the left.

The last two pitches were his best deliveries of the night. Good balance and good follow through.
