Clayton Andrews is a stud! How many high quality relievers double as a lead off CF hitting over .300? I like this! Him only being 5’6 may be least interesting thing about

We're going to miss the heck out of Mauricio Dubon, aren't we (and regret the trade regardless of return).

SS Luis Aviles, Jr. on base four times. Young man is going to be in demand this fall as a 24-year-old minor league free agent. It'd be nice if the Brewers offer enough and entice him with the full-time AAA job in 2020. His agent will be smart to listen in the open market, though.

By the way, Rick Sweet on Keston Hiura --

"I don't know whether I've told you this before, but I've had Ken Griffey, Jr., Edgar Martinez, Luis Gonzalez, and some other names, Vladimir Guerrero, that are good hitters," Sweet said. "Keston falls in that category. He's special … We're just seeing the tip of it. He's a special hitter."

Box: DSL Red Sox #2 Squad 4, DSL Brewers/Indians 3

Walk-off loss as the Sox scored one in the bottom of the 9th in typical DSL fashion, consecutive wild pitches (but by a Cleveland pitcher).

Two Brewer arms combined for seven innings of three-run ball, three walks, three K's.

2nd year third baseman Alberis Ferrer, an 18-year-old Dominican native and RH-bat, hit his first HR this year, equaling his 2018 total. It was a 3-run shot tying the game in the 7th.

Rookie 17-year-old Dominican infielder Angel Bautista singled twice as the DH.

Final: AZL Brewers Blue 12, AZL Indians Red 0

AZL Brewers Blue Box Score

A withering offensive attack combined with some fine pitching lead the Blues to their third, and best, win of the season. Blue batters found themselves on base 24 times, via 15 hits, 8 walks, and a HBP. The Indians' team also committed 6 errors. 15th rounder Cam Devanney and 17-year-old Luis Silva each had three hits while three other Blues had two hits. Devanney also stole two bases and we'll probably be seeing him in the Pioneer League before too long. The squad only managed two extra-base hits, doubles from Jackie Urbaez and Victor Vargas, but so many singles, walks, and errors were able to get the job done.

Kevin Hardin has now hit safely in his first 6 games as a pro.

On the mound, Alexis Ramirez bounced back from an icky first start. The 19-year-old hard thrower allowed no runs in 5 innings of work after allowing 8 runs in 3 innings his first time out. After Ramirez, Henry Medina and Jose Espiritu made scoreless stateside debuts, and Jeyner Baez turned in another impressive outing to close the game out.

AZL Brewers Blue Game Log

Three-run first inning was all the offense would need, but was not all the offense there was:

AZL Brewers Blue Top of the 1st

Arbert Cipion called out on strikes.

Jackie Urbaez doubles (2) on a ground ball to left fielder Marlin Made.

Cam Devanney singles on a ground ball to center fielder Jean Montero, deflected by pitcher Juan Zapata. Jackie Urbaez scores.

Cam Devanney steals (3) 2nd base.

Alex Hall walks.

Kevin Hardin singles on a line drive to left fielder Marlin Made. Cam Devanney scores. Alex Hall to 2nd.

Luis Silva singles on a ground ball to right fielder Cesar Idrogo. Alex Hall scores. Luis Silva out at 2nd on the throw, right fielder Cesar Idrogo to shortstop Jordan Brown. Kevin Hardin to 3rd.

Anderson Melendez grounds out, shortstop Jordan Brown to first baseman Will Bartlett.

Final: AZL White Sox 6, AZL Brewers Gold 4

AZL Brewers Gold Box Score

The Golds took an early 3-0 lead, but a pro debut gone south put them in a hole they weren't able to climb out of. Starter Max Lazar pitched three strong scoreless innings, after pitching two innings last time and one inning the time before that. Seems to be a trend, and hopefully, we see him back in Wisconsin soon. Relieving Lazar and making his pro debut was 17th rounder Kelvin Bender. Things will get better, but Bender allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while recording 5 outs, which was all the offense the White Sox needed.

Joey Matulovich and Wuilder Rodriguez both pitched an inning, which for both was their first inning pitched of the year. I don't have any injury information on either, but it might be fair to say both are working back from something.

The offense did manage 13 hits (including 3 triples) and drew 4 walks, but left 11 on base in a tight game. Francis Florentino, Ashton McGee, Aaron Familia, and Felix Valerio had 2 hits apiece.

AZL Brewers Gold Game Log

I don't care about anything else that happened, My Guy Joey Matulovich pitched:

AZL White Sox Top of the 7th

Pitching Change: Joey Matulovich replaces Yohandry Perez.

James Beard strikes out swinging.

Samil Polanco called out on strikes.

Jose Rodriguez strikes out swinging.
