Re: playoff ideas. Y'all making it to hard. Solution is easy. You force a week 12 or 13 bye week during the season. You have a top 16 in playoff standings. And the committee creates matchups to help them in making decisions on playoff 4 post conference championships. This would be having the non power 5 team thats undefeated play a game vs Clemson or Alabama type that is in the top 5 currently and fits the following.

Say its WI 1 Penn St 8 and while being in same conference likely wont play eachother, now they do. The non power 5 would be matched up with say Ohio State who beat Penn St, lost to WI.

No more wondering on that undefeated non power 5.

Meanwhile you pair say oklahoma vs Auburn. Clemson vs Georgia. LSU vs Utah, if were going off this season. It'd be the Playoff Buster week for NCAA football.

Basically all matchups that wouldnt be in the same conference unless the scenario where they arent playing eachother potentially in the following week to come. Maybe it just 12 or 14 teams. The committee gets 6-8 games of clarity for the final 4.

Where would the games be held at? NFL teams would randomize hosting these games. A Team would be on the road that week and thus creating a Nuetral field matchup. Think Clemson and Bama had an easy schedule? Boom matchup. This week is held during the season so nope NFL prospects you arent skipping this game.

Imagine Lambeau Field hosting a Matchup one year where its Oklahoma vs a Clemson?

That sounds incredibly complicated.

Not really, seems reasonable and not too complicated. It is out of the norm for most traditionalists.

FWIW (nothing), Taylor has been telling autograph seekers to get bent since the end of the season, telling them he charges now and he's not playing in the bowl game, lol.

Sounds like a thread from the Gopherhole.

I haven't seen or heard any of that yet. Nothing has been mentioned of him skipping the bowl. I've also never heard anyone say a negative word about the kid in general.

But, it would make a lot of sense for the team to ask him not to say anything for a while so that it doesn't affect sales or the fans negatively until later. IMO, if this was any game besides the playoff or RB I'd agree to skip, not worth the risk as a RB already with a ton of carries on his body. But, a showcase game like this against a top level D is a good chance for him to help prove/keep himself in the first 2/3 rounds. But, I totally get it if he'd skip and wouldn't blame him.

Taylor was a not very close 5th place.

For all the debate about the disparity in talent level between the Badgers and Buckeyes, some crazy perspective:

Three of the 4 Heisman finalists this year are in or were in the OSU football program. The landslide winner this year had to transfer out of Ohio State to get himself on the field long enough to likely make him a top 2 pick in next year's NFL draft, only falling from top overall if OSU's Chase Young is the 1st pick. The 4th place vote getter would have likely transferred to OSU to be their QB this year if they had a spot for him to start.

He probably shouldn’t play. Go get ready for the draft and make your money. RB is a short lifespan. Has to capitalize now.

I'd be surprised if he actually does.

For the record, I never thought he wouldn't play. I was just saying, in the memorabilia group I'm in, with some very trusted guys I've dealt with for many years, they've been saying he started saying that after the Big 10 championship. I don't do autos anymore, and I think he just doesn't want to sign stuff, but I don't doubt that he said it for a second.

I just figured he was having fun with some dudes that annoy him.

One thing to note is I don't think I saw him mentioned on Twitter as graduating last weekend, which would have been 3.5 years for him. Some of the others were 3.5. I believe he has legit difficult majors or programs though so I'm sure it would've been tough. With how much he has talked about education you'd think he plans on graduating. Just saying there is a good chance he needs to another semester to finish that out. Not that this affects his decision to play or anything as he'd still be under scholarship next semester. But it would be easier to skip if he was signed to an agent and gone training in LA right now as opposed to being on campus.

Guys change their minds all the time. Also they almost always say they are going to play in the bowl game when asked immediately after the last game of the year.

That's where the 6 could come in, just make it clear too. 5 champs and 1 WC.

Another thing that could happen down the line though, especially with the new financials stuff coming in with paying players combined with the health risk so few people playing, would be the Major conferences to separate from the rest with their own rules. A scenario could come up where it becomes 4 conferences, presumably the B12 getting poached, and 48 total teams. So essentially you'd have the conf title games as the "round of 8", then it goes to the way it is now for the final after the 4 conf champs are decided.

Just saw this today, going right at what I said: https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/watchdog-group-commercialization-of-fbs-college-basketball-requires-restructuring-of-ncaa/

LOL yea. Glad it didn't accidently link to some of the other questionable stuff on my computer haha.

Was meant to be about how a research group is saying the money making conferences should be separated with their own rules. Which I corrected in the original.
