Not sure if it is just part of the game plan today, but the Badgers sure aren’t throwing down field much today. 4 yard outs on 3rd and 7 or 6 yard outs on 3rd and 10. Not a fan of running a bunch of routes like that short of the line to gain unless they are crossing routes where you’re hitting the receiver in the middle of the field in stride. Maybe Northwestern’s corners are terrible at tackling and they are banking on the wide receivers to make guys miss and they just aren’t in the first half. This game just has a different feel to it with what they are trying to do offensively.

Yeah it was a chance to put northwestern in the bucket early. I always get uncomfortable letting these guys hang in there. Over the years we’ve dropped some we had no business losing to them.

I hate playing northwestern, because it often feels like the gameplan is to let them hang around far too long in the game instead of being aggressive - like they didn't scheme at all and it feels like a playbook for a spring game

Getting frustrating watching check down after check down followed by a jump ball int. With NW stacking the box you have to be able to complete something down the field. This defense gave up 31 to MSU last week and are stoning us. If Coan is the guy, he’s gotta be able to hit something down the field just to keep defenses honest.

What the heck was that drive? What happened to the aggressiveness chryst had been showing this year? Did that int spook him?

At least a play action seam route to a TE with a wr crossing behind him - that's typically a 1 read, easy throw good for 20 yards a pop when its open

Coan can’t throw it that far. If they were going to run a play what they ended up doing was not the answer. Screen pass of some sort would have been more logical and less risky. But again, just kneel. Why do the stupid Groshek run just to call a time-out? Groshek isn’t going to break for 70 yards. It is like they were content running out the clock and decided suddenly to do another play just to do another play.

Every time Jack Dunn fair catches a punt the Northwestern cover guys talk major trash to him. Really odd.

I’m thinking (hoping?) they had a different idea and whatever that was ended up not being there. But if that’s the case Coan should’ve just chucked it to the side.

I would imagine there was something too...but agreed throw it out at that point and be done.

On another note I have been impressed so far with the tackling and defensive front. Really limiting yards after the hit and causing a lot of nothing burger plays. Has set the defense up nicely.

That was a really good time to go for it on 4th down. You do not punt from the other teams 36. Nice job, Chryst. Stupid.

Or go for it on 4th. I hate 20 yard punts.

That was a 16 yarder after the touchback. Just dumb.
