2019-06-22: Reds (Castillo) at Brewers (Chacín) [Brewers win, 6-5 -- New Look Lineup; Crew comes back from early 3-run deficit]

If you can’t fully enjoy the game the way it is, you’re not a baseball fan. Arguing calls is part of baseball. People that complain about it are the reason a runner starts the inning at second base now in extras in the minors.

Does this mean that if someone thinks a thing isn't perfect they don't like it at all? That's..... very odd thinking.

I’m not saying it’s perfect. I’m saying I love the imperfections. Using electronic technology has changed the game tremendously already with instant replay. I’m not a fan of altering the game, period. Since the dead ball era, very little has changed beyond changing the mound height and adding the DH (which I don’t like either). Taking away arguing calls and replacing it with a perfect system would take away the fun of debating them, which you might not find important but I do.

But not everyone feels the same way as you. Some people would just rather get the call right and let the players determine the outcome.

And the game has changed tremendously since the deadball era. Not all at once, and sometimes in small, subtle ways, but it's certainly a far cry from the game Ruth and Gerhig played. Even the way pitchers are used has changed tremendously just in the last 10 years.

The reason you have to respect the Scherzer's of the world is just the consistency man. Those guys year in and year out are studs and u can pencil them in. Chacin was great last year now he's terrible. It's why you need to find a few horses.

The sooner they automate the strike zone the better.

Pitch 6 to Grandal should have been a ball, but pitch 4 should have been a strike.

Just get rid of the Fox strike zone on every pitch..... just asking for fans to be disgruntled with umps. If FSN wants to replay a third strike or 4th ball, sobeit. Everything else is overkill.

You seriously think that when they go to machines that nobody will ever debate ball/strike calls??

I think automated zones will remove the horrendously bad calls from the game that sometimes occur now. I firmly believe that border line calls will still be replayed and debated. I personally don’t see any downside to automated zones.
